Not your typical feedback, but I feel it’s worth sharing.
Today I discovered the form functionality within project templates was behind the current form functionality.
I think this - and many other delays for features in project templates - is a symptom of the decision to make templates, live projects, and my tasks seem to be completely separate things behind the scenes.
From what I’ve seen, most of the attention goes out to the projects, which get the initial update. Templates and my tasks seem to lag behind with a lot of this functionality, and it seems a separate effort needs to update a lot of this functionality.
Another example of this is the customise menu, which still has the layout that was replaced for projects over a year ago.
To me, it makes more sense to have these to re-organise these into the same type of thing, with variations where it makes sense.
I think there are a lot of other things that feel like a hassle in project templates compared to live templates.
Although I’m sure it is complicated to merge this functionality, I think it would be an investment that would make it a lot easier to push features over the board and keep the interface consistent.
Other examples:
- Modifying dependencies in a template without a timeline view is quite the hassle
- In templates, you can’t even see if a task has sub-tasks
- Project templates V2: what we gain, what we lose
- Update Form settings in Templates with current form functionality
- Dashboard for existing Project Templates (v2)
- A Form for My tasks
- Saved view tabs to be supported in Project templates
- Copy form to project template
- Decide notification settings for templates
- Adding existing custom task types to a project template
- Expand subtasks in project template view
- Enable setting a work schedule in project templates
- Sort someone else’s My tasks
- Add Timeline to My Tasks
- In My Tasks v2 List view, provide expand/collapse twisties for tasks with subtasks
