Time moves from left to right in western culture, and everywhere in the Asana interface.
That’s why it is very counterintuitive to have the “add start date” button to the right of the “due date” when setting relative timings in a project template.
Why not switch that?
100% agree, @Jan-Rienk. And even worse than that IMO is that this UI is inconsistent with the dialog that sets the start/due date for regular tasks!

Well, I probably agree with what I bet the designer was weighing here: that Start date is a secondary, far less-used feature.
I don’t see a better place for it.
Two other points:
The UIs you’re comparing are not actually so similar, so it might be a stretch to call them inconsistent.
And even if they are inconsistent, consistency is not the only design principle at play. Sometimes others take precedence.
