🚀 New: Grid and saved views now available in Goals!

Hi everyone,

We’re just added grid and saved views to goals, giving you the same powerful organization and sharing capabilities you love in projects.

:wrapped_gift: What’s new?

Goals now have saved views and a new grid view to help you organize and share your goal views exactly how you need them!

  • Create custom views: Set up different views of your goals with specific filters, sorts, and column configurations
  • Grid view for goals: New grid layout brings feature parity with projects and portfolios
  • Multiple column options: Choose from progress, time period, team, owner, status, status preview, goal type, and due date

This is perfect for PPM/PMO professionals and goals champions who are already familiar with the power of project saved views and want that same flexibility for goals! :rocket:

Note: Custom fields for goals will be available in a future update.

We’re excited to see how this helps streamline your goal management! Feel free to drop your questions or comments below. :orange_heart:

Finally some good news from goals! Anyway a lot of work to be done there…

  1. Goals bug / suggestion - Asana add-ons doesn't recognize goals link

  2. Duplicating Goals and Sub-Goals

  3. Custom fields in Goals overview page

  4. "Add to Goals" feature in projects & tasks

Hi there!
I no longer see the option to export Goals as a CSV. Is this feature still there?

Hi @Geena_Kopping , welcome to the forum :waving_hand:
You will find it when you right-click on the view tab.

Hey @Richard_Sather

Thank you! I never would have found that. Appreciate it

Tremendous update, @Emily_Roman!

And look at those impressive new grid features too that I spied in the screenshot:

  • multiple-level hierarchies (I see this in my demo env now), and
  • multi-select with checkboxes (fast-follow perhaps?)

Thanks,

Larry

Hi @Emily_Roman , really useful update!

However, unlike the screenshot in your original post, I don’t seem to have the ability yet to:

  • add any custom fields (from the library)
  • multi-select Goals
  • use the Sort and Group button

Can we expect all these to be (really) fast-follows?

Thanks!

I currently see the layout of the goals as a kind of project, but without common well-known functions, such as a simple right click and an advanced actions menu. And I have the same trouble with the abilities mentioned by @Richard_Sather

I also noticed that it is unclear how to share goals via links (i.e., what will be shared and in which view) and how custom tabs can be viewed by other colleagues.

Curious, will Goal Admins have the ability to save the Company Goals view for others to see, especially once Custom Fields are added in? We have begun using custom fields, and having them show up as default for the company will be important for their usage.

Great update - i’d also like to add that we currently can’t add custom fields to the goal views.
Also, ideally admins should be able to set saved views for everyone. I’m already experiencing that i have to navigate people individually to create the goal views so that it fits our current way of working. Thanks!

Great update!

One question - when I change the grid view and press button to save it, the popup appears that the change is visible only for me. This is in opposite to project grids. Will it be working only this way or are there the plans to create views shared with others?

In addition, when I press + button to create new tab and I select the team from the list, a new view is created with the filtering applied in it, but the name of the tab does not reflect the team selected. Is it a bug?

The add goals feature in projects would be a much easier way to link things together, instead of manually doing it through the goal view.
hoping for that development!

Hi @Kylie_Duby , in case it helps, you can add a Goal to a project via the project’s Overview tab, under connected Goals. But, in order to do so, you will need to have Goal Edit access or be the Goal Admin, as well as the Project Admin access on the project.
And you can do it even easier in a Portfolio by enabling the ‘Connected Goals’ column from Options>Show/hide columns.

yes, thank you. I have found that to be helpful. I guess I mean more adding them to specific tasks in a project.
I have create a strategic planning document that links to goals and was hoping an easier way to link specific tasks to goals, than the manual entry.

Oh right, yes that makes total sense and I would like to see that streamlined, basically being able to Convert a task into a Goal, right?

Hello @lpb I seem to have the Goals functionality missing on my demo environment, how did you make it work?

Hi @Piotr_Glodkowski , that is a different demo environment that @lpb is referring to. Forum Leaders and Asana Partners get a ‘Phoenix’ demo environment, as it is referred to.

I wouldn’t consider the Asanaverse environment as a demo space, since you are a Guest there, with limited functionality, anyway.

@Piotr_Glodkowski and @Richard_Sather,

In my post here, I just copied the OP screenshot!

Guests can’t see Goals by default, only Members.

Thanks,

Larry
