New! Keep your team in the loop with Goal Status Updates and History 🥅

Hi, there

We have some exciting news to share!

Communicating the right level of context is key to keeping everyone fully informed on the status and progress of goals. That’s why I’m excited to announce our new Status and History features for Goals.

Now teams can keep everyone in the know by adding written commentary and attachments when updating goal status and progress. By clicking Update on the Goal Details Page, you can quickly create a Status update using our best practices template, or you can customize it to align with your team’s conventions.

Adding color to goal status and progress updates ensures that everyone has a clear understanding of where goals stand, which in turn enables stakeholders to easily take action where needed.

Once a goal’s status has been updated, the new History feature allows teams to track historical status updates, providing a record for a goal’s progression. To learn more about how to manage your goals in Asana, check out the Asana Guide.

We hope you enjoy this new update to Goals. And of course, if you have any comments or questions, feel free to post them in the comments below.

If you don’t see the new Status Updates & History on Goals yet, don’t fret. This update is gradually being rolled out this week and should be available to all users soon.

Thanks!

Great Update! One of the business scenarios that would really help in an Enterprise is we use Powerpoint to Manually pull Project/Portfolio status by Goals, I would love to be able to pull Projects/Portfolios associated to the goal being updated and show the status updates I think even showing the Project Name/Portfolio name and its Owner, latest status and Progress/Milestones

Nice feature thanks for the good news  , do we have any way to export Goals to any spread sheet or online google sheet ?

I couldn’t find goals feature as in projects or portfolios.

Thanks,
Hany

@Zaraida_Diaz can you please answer my question ?

Hi @Hany_Abdulazeem_Elsa, thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delay here! As it stands, it’s currently not possible to export Goals, you can upvote for this feature here: Add Export/Print function for Goals. We don’t have immediate plans to launch that option but we will make sure to post an update in the main thread as soon as we have any news.

Is it possible to turn subgoals into tasks? As I currently understand it, you’d have to create a subgoal and a task elsewhere in order to see it in your My Tasks view.

Hi @robertjohns, as it stands, it’s currently not possible to convert a subgoal to a task. If you would like to have a task assigned to you that represents your Goal in your My Tasks, you can create a task and assign it to you as a workaround. However, please note that you can associate your projects to your Goals and you can also see all Goals connected to each project in the Overview tab. You can learn more about Goals in this article: Get Started with Asana Goals • Asana Product Guide

There is another problem that every goal has limited number or projects or portfolios attached to it … if i remember correct it is max 10 per goal, so is it possible to check with your development team and ask them to make unlimited number of projects & portfolios connected to each goal ?

Thanks for sharing your feedback, @Hany_Abdulazeem_Elsa! We don’t have immediate plans to increase this limit but I will share it with our product team so it can be considered in future updates. I also encourage you to create a new request in our #productfeedback category so we can keep you posted too!
