Context

Adding emoji’s though at the start of the custom field options, makes:

  • the values easier to recognise
  • the project more beautiful
  • the fields more fun

When you have a list of options to fill custom fields, you can jump to select the relevant field by starting to type.

The problem however, is that (for multi-select fields) the mentioned jumping only works when you start typing the value of the desired custom field exactly. This means that this method is not compatible with adding emoji’s, as entering an emoji is more work than scrolling the selection menu.

Especially with a longer list, I feel I need to choose between speed of entry and the mentioned benefits of adding emoji’s.

Why not have both?

Proposal

Make typing in a custom field selection function like search, ignoring word order.

Ideally it would filter rather than jump, like suggested here: When selecting an option from a multi-select custom field, allow filter reduction by typing entry name

I like emojis and use them a lot, but another problem is when you sort lists with emojis in front of the text. If you are looking for an alphabetical sort, emojis mess it up.

Funny because I don’t see the same thing. For example here, based on a real field we have, you can type “mil” et “eo” and this option pops up.
Note: always add a blank space after the emojis you are using…

Finally got around to this bookmark :sweat_smile:

Anyway, it seems to work for single select fields, not for multi-select fields.
Edited title and post to clarify.
