In the team page, allow to set project project view to List by default (it currently defaults to tiles)

Hi @anon77025728 and thanks for bringing this up to my attention, I’ll be sure to bring this up to our team attention so it can be considered for the next round of update on our “Team page” update. I’ll be sure to keep you posted here as soon as I have an update!

Thank you, Marie, and I’m sorry for sounding so negative. It’s just frustrating for a lot of us that this has taken so long and we haven’t been updated very frequently. Do you know what the holdup is?

No worries @anon77025728 ! We currently have thousands of existing feature request in the forum so unfortunately, we can’t always update them all regularly  As for why this feature request hasn’t been prioritised yet, I’d recommend you to check out this other post in which I explain how we use and prioritise feedback we receive in the forum and other channels.

Here this will make you feel better. Asana BS – they value your concern so much they will ignore it for another several years

Note from your Asana Friends
You are extremely important to us and we value your thoughtful input. Thank you for your feedback! Feel free to create a post in this category if you have any follow up questions about this process.

Really surprise that this is not implemented. It’s a terrible UX to set a view only to have that view reset to what you changed away from. Please allow the team view to remember the list view preference.

Adding my voice to this! Project names are very long in my org and we need list view by default! Tiles are useless.

Ditto here, not being able to default our view to “List” when looking at Projects on the Team page is becoming an issue for us. Hoping this gets rolled out soon!

Hello,

When you are on the Team page, if the name of the projects is long, you cannot see the entire name of the project if you are in TILES view, on the other hand when you switch to LIST mode, you can see the entire name of the project and we have better visibility of all the projects.

ISSUE : We are unable to define by default the LIST view (like we can do on the project page).

I believe that would be awesome to add this feature.

Best regards

Hi @AskHamza, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!

While it isn’t possible to view Projects in List view by default right now, hopefully this is an option our Product team can add in the future.

We do have an existing request for this feature in the forum already so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing to consolidate feedback, I hope you don’t mind!

I’ll let you know if we have any updates

I’m sure this is a really simple request to implement but it would take away a daily productivity frustration.

Please could you retain the last view option (Tiles vs List) of Projects when a Team is selected?

I have to click on List every time because the Tiles view is always the default and doesn’t show the
whole project name.

Also, in a List view please put them in alphabetical order too. They always seem to be listed in the order they were created.

(And before anyone says “but you can do this with a Portfolio”, I know that but the Portfolio is a manually-created grouping and doesn’t necessarily contain all a Team’s Projects.)

Thanks.

Hi @Alex_Bailey1 you can click the ellipsis and save the layout as default.

And please do not. Tasks should be managed by the PM and ordered in the order needing to be completed.

Hi ,

You can do that within a Project and save the view of Tasks as default.

Unfortunately they didn’t provide that in a Team ‘s view of Projects.

That’s what they need to add.

I agree that Tasks order should be left as the user arranges them.

I was referring to Projects (which could be re-arranged as the user wanted but that’s not currently possible)

HI @Alex_Bailey1, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!

We do have an existing thread for this feature request in the #productfeedback category so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.

I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates

Thanks Rebecca,
I realised afterwards and made a note with a link in the other thread.

Not wanting to sound rude here but seeing that you, as Community Manager, are monitoring and responding so quickly to new posts, why is it that the Product Managers responsible for feature requests don’t appear to respond anywhere near as quickly?

I’m sure you can see there’s a level of frustration here from many others. While I fully appreciate that constant feature requests and internal development roadmaps must keep PMs pretty well occupied, it would be so nice to have some feedback to end users or where these things really are in the roadmap, rather than “sorry we don’t have an update for you right now”.

Regards,
Alex

Hi @Alex_Bailey1, thanks for following up.

I hear you and understand how not receiving updates on a feature request you really want to see come to life can be frustrating.

We do our best to prioritize what is important to all customers and create features that will have the greatest impact on the customer experience. As you can imagine, we receive a lot of different feature requests from a wide array of users and so prioritizing these can be both difficult and take some time.

Generally, we receive updates only on features our Product team plans to implement in the near future and in turn, we pass these updates on to users in the Community.

While we can’t guarantee that this feature will be implemented (it’s something I would love to see in Asana too), I can let you know that it is on our Product team’s radar and hopefully we will see it in the future.

Thanks for your patience, Alex!

Hello all,

When I view projects in a certain team page, I prefer to view projects in list view. So I switch it to list view instead of tile view.
However, whenever I click somewhere else (i.e. my tasks or inbox) and comeback to team page, the view is again switched back to tile view.

This is somewhat annoying, and I wish I could find a way to select list view and maintain it that way once and for all.

Can anyone give me an advice how to do it? or is this some sort of bug to fix?

Thanks.
