Ah OK @Sally_Kim1, clear now! I moved your posts to an existing topic for this request; be sure to add your vote at the top of the thread.
Really wish this would get implemented. This suggestion is 4 years old. Having read the history, I know the current behavior is an intentional choice, which tells me thereâs a reason. But itâs not conducive to many methodologies. It could be added as a setting in âSettings>Display>Advanced optionsâ as a checkbox. That way, the people who want to use nesting can, while the ones who prefer it the way it is can leave it.
I just wanted to note that this key request (disclaimer: I was the one who created it a while ago) now has the Considered tag, which means that Asana has it on their radar. No guarantees, but encouraging!
Thanks,
Larry
Tested this, and this doesnât work for me.
Yay! ![]()
I donât like to use âmy Tasksâ at all as itâs super messy the way itâs showing subtasks completely separate from their main task. It would be great to have the option to show subtasks grouped under their main task with the little expand/hide arrow as in regular projects.
@ka_nishiyama, yes thatâs exactly it. If the main task is assigned to someone else then fair enough maybe it wouldnât be available there but certainly for main and subtasks that are all assigned to the same person it would be fantastic to have the option to group them like that. As it is at the moment itâs looking very messy and stresses me just looking at it lol.
I think you may want to vote for this request:
I think youâre asking for something different, though, so I wonât merge this topic into that one.
Thanks,
Larry
I merged it literally the same minute @lpb posted his message. I think itâs pretty much the same request?
I think weâre talking about the same thing here. Sorry didnât see that this requests already exists!
Hi all,
Joining the thread here to emphasize my desire for this feature too.
I donât think this change would be confusing in the slightest. Iâm a new asana user so my mind is not steeped in the existing design choices. This feature feels obvious and so useful to me.
I want to see all of my tasks and subtasks in the same place, the same view. I want âMy Tasksâ to show me everything. I donât want to have to open the details view, now need to focus on a whole section of the page thatâs mostly irrelevant to me (as Iâm not the kind of user that puts a bunch of context into a taskâs details section). Itâs sort of like the complexity of all the things I could do in asana is obscuring the main point of the app which is to allow us to make a list of tasks (and thus easily see subtasks) and collaborate w others, etc.
I just want to make a simple list of tasks and subtasks and see them all in the same place quickly. The friction of opening up the details panel is frustrating.
What I like about it is it give optionality and customization to the user to design their interface the way theyâd like to use it. Some users might be very detailed and want to add a bunch of context to the details panel and thus having subtasks in the details panel will suit them â great! Some users (myself included) will utilize the drop down arrow to show subtasks in âMy Tasksâ â great! Those who donât like the drop down arrow wont use it. I wont look at the details panel to find my subtasks. Everyone is happy.
Iâm considering making a Project that I call âMy Tasksâ but that will mean other challenges.
This feels really simple and necessary. Please consider! It would be such a worthwhile change. ![]()
Yes a million times!
This topic now has the Considered designation so it may come to pass!
But keep voting!
Thanks,
Larry
Saddened to see how long this thread has been open. Big oof.
Iâd like to be able to expand / collapse my subtasks when looking at tasks from the âMy Taskâ List menu. Currently, you can only see subtasks by opening a task entirely and then scrolling to the section for subtasks.
It would be better to at least have the option to expand / collapse like we are able to do in a regular project list - this makes it difficult to fully work out of âmy tasksâ menu because I do rely on quickly reviewing subtasks.
Iâve merged your post into an existing topic (I created!) where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button.
Thanks,
Larry
Hi @lpb , this doesnât seem to be closed and merged.. just checking ![]()
Whoops; done now! Thanks, @Richard_Sather.
Voted. Itâs actually insane that this is still not a feature.
Voted! I think this is another clear example of the need to Make functionality in live projects, project templates, and my tasks consistent
