Is there a timeline when custom fields will be available within my tasks? As all others in this tread, very in need of it to have an overview of time estimates/priorities. This thread is almost 4 years old I believe so would be great if this is made possible!
@Esmee_de_Vries Asana does not communicate on the roadmap and can’t give a timeline for such requests. My opinion: it should come soon, even though I don’t have any insights.
I add my vote to this. It’s much needed in My Tasks.
At a minimum, I wish I could add a status to each of my tasks: “in progress”, “Awaiting Updates” etc.
Hope this feature arrives soon!
Agreed! I’d like to see private custom fields or org-wide custom fields available. In the private custom fields, I’d add a field for priority, a way to identity my next actions, and a way to estimate the amount of time a task would take so I could do a weekly plan each week.
All I know is that, after 834 votes, 344 posts, and 4.5 years… Whenever Asana does add the ability to show custom fields in “My Tasks,” everyone on this thread is going to absolutely LOSE it! ![]()
That would be awesome. Personally, I’d like to create a custom field on my My Tasks titled, ‘Priority.’ When I look at the big picture of all the tasks I have of various projects, having that custom field would help immensely. Thanks!
This seems such an essential feature. Can I raise two hands to support this feature ![]()
I would say “cluttered” is in the eye’s of the beholder. My Tasks has limited value as compared to being able to customize fields like in My Projects.
I need this feature. ![]()
Hello @JohnAbeel,
quite surprised by your comment to be honest.
Yes indeed this is a very popular request and we all cannot wait for this feature to be available, but I believe that feedback can be shared in a different way.
Also based on what assumption are you saying that Asana is not listening? The use of the words „arrogant“ and „dumb“ is definitely not okay.
Asana has always been and is constantly listening to their customers and implementing features. Just have a look at all the features they launched last year.
I also recommend reading this post where Asana explains how they listen to feedback:
Thanks Andrea, I flagged the post as inappropriate, moderators will judge.
My team definitely needs this feature implemented as soon as possible.
In my team we find hard to prioritise without this feature at the moment. Sorely needed!
I agree. It would be helpful to use Custom Fields in the “My Tasks” section.
We currently have a situation where we need to use two Date fields (“Start Date” and “Due Date”) to help our team stay on track.
For example, if a high-effort project isn’t due until 3 weeks but it requires someone to start earlier, the “Start Date” would help ensure it appears on my team’s radar earlier so they can plan ahead.
It would be SO HELPFUL if I could see a task list with a custom field that also show estimated time for each task.
Dear Asana Team,
we also really need the custom fields feature in my tasks for prioritizing own tasks. Please implement it as soon as possible
.
Thanks a lot
I’m guessing since this feature has been on the request list for 4 and a half years, this is NOT something Asana is going to change. Sucks. I could really use it to help organize the MY TASKS list into something actually usable.
Adding my vote here. I went to the product feedback page referenced above and am not even seeing this in the list there and can’t tell how to add it. I concur with all of the above comments—not being able to see priority and status/progress in the My Tasks view (touted as our to-do list by Asana) makes the entire thing useless. And it should not be taking 5+ years to fix this.
I’m trying to use sections in “My Tasks” to bring some semblance of order to my huge amount of to-dos.
Use case: I really need to bring in one of our custom fields (“Tool”) to be able to see at a glance what product a task or subtask refers to. Although we try to be as specific as possible in the titles of our tasks, we also have tasks that are similar, but only the context of the tool or parent task makes the content completely clear. The “tool” field is the other option.
This was raised 5 years ago??? Why hasn’t anyone done anything???
