Ways to add a group of people to team/project/task (manage people in text format)

I’ve seen many requests on this forum to manage groups of people and add them to a team/project/task at once.
For example: What is a good workaround for creating Sub-Teams?

The below steps are not still ideal, but it might be faster to manage people in plain text format in a text editor and copy-paste that into the field, especially if you are adding the same set of people to many teams/projects/tasks.

Team/Project invitation

Text format: Comma-separated email addresses
Examples:

  • shuns@work-graph.jp, shuns2@work-graph.jp
  • shuns@work-graph.jp,shuns2@work-graph.jp

Result:

Task collaborators*

(Add people by at-mentioning.)

Text format: List of profile URLs
Examples:

  • https://app.asana.com/0/profile/114452000570... https://app.asana.com/0/profile/1145068418403...
  • https://app.asana.com/0/profile/1144520005708..., https://app.asana.com/0/profile/1145068418403...

Result:

Not working here:

P.S.

  • I hope the comma-separated emails will be supported in task collaborators field soon.
  • I created a prototype stage of a Chrome extension Asana Batch to easily manage groups of people and bulk-add collaborators, but the projects has been half done for a long time.
  • Previously we were able to at-mention users with their My Tasks URL (e.g. https://app.asana.com/0/1144520005708.../list) but it seems to have been replaced with the profile URL recently (Introducing User Profiles 🧍🏻).

Hi @ShunS,

I use comma-separated email addresses all the time. The problem I am finding now is that it does not apply for Goals. This is so frustrating! I have about 50 private company goals that have to be shared with about 15 members. The only way is to manually add each and everyone of them one by one over and over again… It is taking me hours, and there is so much room for mistakes!

I really don’t understand why this is the design, and why is there no bulk invite across the entire product. Very frustrating.

I hope this gets resolved soon.

Thanks for sharing,
Itay

Updates to task collaborators

We can now copy & paste collaborators between tasks!
That’s what I’ve been waiting for a long time :sob:

  1. Copy the collaborators from a task by clicking the icon
  2. Paste the list into another task by Cmd/Ctrl+V or right-click > paste

@Forum-team, I’m seeing this in multiple environments; is it a released feature? A/B test? Thanks!

Hi @lpb, thanks for tagging us! I’ve checked with our PMs and can confirm that this started as an A/B test but has since been rolled out to 100% of users!
