This feature already exists, you build an Advanced Search and save it as a favorite. So what’s missing here is simply having this “button” available natively for everyone to click. I do believe the advanced search saved is a really decent workaround.
Looking for this solution as well. I need a way to quickly access tasks where I am a collaborator. I manage a team and am often added as a collaborator to my team’s tasks for visibility, but it actually doesn’t help visibility when I can’t find those tasks.
I’ve tried the advanced search workaround, but that also includes tasks that I am assigned to, and there’s no way to do “Assignee isn’t me”, so it just becomes an unwieldy list.
This is an elementary feature that definitely needs to be added
Have to agree, find it weird that there wouldn’t be a section within ‘My Tasks’. Makes seeing your workload incredibly difficult when it’s in a different place! Is there any update to whether this could be implemented please, as seems theres a call for it?
Having a hard time believing it takes 4 years to develop this. I’ll add myself to the long list of people who are waiting for Asana to actually do something about it. Disappointing.
It doesn’t, they simply decided not to do it (yet?).
If your workload doesn’t consist only of tasks you are assigned on, then you are not using Asana the way it was intended to. Said otherwise, if being a collaborator somewhere should be taken into account as part of your workload, then you’ll have a hard time having an accurate workload ever imho… I can definitely understand that you need to answer comments, and you might potentially be delegated that task at one point, but no system can accurately account for this scenarios, can they?
Asana doesn’t communicate on their roadmap, and this wasn’t part of any of the vision that was publicly shared. As shared before, a very simple Advanced Search (which you can save for easy access) gives you exactly what you need.
I am in interested in this functionality as well. I’ve seen Advanced Search mentioned as a solution a lot, but it doesn’t seem very easy or intuitive to find or set up. When I search for myself as a collaborator, I also see all the past and future tasks where I’m an assignee and their subtasks. It’s unrealistic for me to find the few tasks where I’ve been added as a collaborator in there. I need to add extra filter criteria, and in my situation, I think the only way would be to filter the assignee to my 30+ coworkers. I haven’t wanted to spend the time doing that yet, so I’m not even sure if it will take that many.
I’ve seen custom reports mentioned too, so I’m planning to look into that route next.
Anyway, want to add my support for a My Collaborations tab or something else where they are automatically grouped.
@Jasmine_Saffold I am genuinely curious to understand your use case: why do you need to find tasks you are a collaborator on?
This is all you need in an advanced search, then star the results and name it to use from your sidebar from then on:
- Assignee: not me
- Collaborators: me
Thanks,
Larry
Thanks so much! I didn’t realize you could use words like that. I’ll save that search.
I am going to agree with the 100s of people who have requested this. At any given time we have ongoing tasks that multiple people are invested in the outcome of, or may be able to assist the person who it is assigned to. We use Asana sometimes as a group to-do list and when I create a task like this I will assign it to a point person but want others to know it is being worked on. The reason this would be helpful on “My Tasks” is so that when a team member goes to that page they would be able to see that these tasks (which they are a collaborator on) that they may be waiting on are assigned to someone else and then can follow up with that person and ask for updates (via asana). Otherwise I get calls saying “who is working on that” and I tell them I already put it in Asana and assigned to to X person, etc. It may seem unnecessary to you but this is a big time saver and having to do a custom search means a large portion of people won’t do it.
I think this feature is pretty essential, seeing as you are unable to add multiple assignees to a single task.
My use-case is this:
I am using Asana for a team of scientists and technician in a clinical production facility. We are rely a lot on templates and visibility of tasks in a weekly calendar view. For tasks in a facility like mine, there is a constant need for multiple people to work on tasks, as there are double-controls and heavy lifts etc that require two people.
Seeing as we cannot add multiple assignees to a task and signal directly on the task board who is working on a task (which is really disappointing), we need to use the collaborator function. However, people cannot see the tasks that they are collaborators on in the My Tasks view, making it a little bit of a hassle to find their “assigned” tasks.
I am still really confused and frankly sad that multiple assignees to a task is not possible, but not having a view on which tasks you are a collaborator on should at least be possible.
A much needed feature or atleast the ability to add multiple assignees
Hi,
I’ve recently introduced Asana to my team. I often have more than one team member working on a task. Rather than assigning multiple assignees (which will create separate tasks for each team member), I think it would be very helpful to add a Filter so that the collaborators have the ability to filter for tasks where they are not listed as the Assignee, as well.
Thanks for your consideration.

Until/if this becomes possible, you can:
- Click the “. . .” in the project’s header at the far right and choose “Search this project”
- Type “me” in the Collaborators field and click Incomplete
- Click the Search button
You can star that and save it to get to it in the future with one click, all refreshed.
Thanks,
Larry
Thanks Larry!
Just want to point out that while this is helpful, for our team’s use case of having a sprint board with “Sprint Backlog”, “In Progress” and “Completed”, we lose that view when using the project search.
Stated here mainly to encourage it as a feature with a lot of added value, an in hopes the development team can make it a priority.
It would also be useful to be able to sum metrics such as story points based on the tasks that we collaborate on, as otherwise tracking metrics in Asana dis-incentivizes collaboration on tasks without duplicating the task
Hi everyone,
+1 Vote from me.
I thought filtering by Collaborator existed as an option until the moment I needed it and realized it was not an option after all..
@lpb 's tip is good but again the results on screen are a bit chaotic: a huge list with tasks and subtasks all together. Thanks Larry by the way!
It’s a bit of surprise that you can filter anything.. but not Collaborators ![]()
Is there a reason for it?
Best,
Elina.

I feel like there are some filters missing from views that seem obvious. So far, for example, I have needed a Section filter and a Collaborator filter.
I would like to be able to see all the tasks in a particular section but grouped differently. I have a board/project with about 15 sections and I sometimes need to dive into just one section to get a better look at how to organise the tasks within it, so I’d like to open up just that section in a view, so I’d filter by that section name and choose something else as the ‘group by’ value.
I’ve also needed a way to show ‘all the tasks I am a collaborator of’ and, while I’ve managed to make that a saved search, it would be better if I could use it as a filter in a project so I could see ‘all tasks I’m assigned or collaborating on that are due in the next 2 weeks’. There are some duplicate ideas for this part that I’ve found so far actually:
Provide Filter Option So Users Can View All Tasks They Are Collaborating On - English Forum / Tips and Tricks - Asana Forum - which just points to the ‘search’ idea
How to view all tasks I am a collaborator on - English Forum / Use Cases - Asana Forum - same, the saved search
This is a workaround and not a full solution; please just provide the ability to filter on these very prominent data points, it’s not a niche thing to want to filter on.
Hi @DevLunsford,
It’s a practice in the Forum to only make each topic about a single request, and to vote.
Re sections, I’ve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button.
And re filters, could you vote here:
Thanks,
Larry
