I am missing a view for all tasks where I’m a collaborator on. I know that there is the custom report function which is a reasonably good solution.
However, I’d find it much more intuitive if you could add a switch/filter to show tasks where you are a collaborator in “My Tasks”. Or in an additional view. This would improve visibility and place the tasks where I’d expect them to be.
Some background info where this idea came from:
My colleagues and I naturally looked for a way to show tasks where one is a collaborator under “My Tasks”. It took some time for us to discover and use custom searches, but it helped us make a search for collaborative tasks. In the beginning I’ve used bookmarks to the custom search URLs to get to the searches quickly. I just discovered the report function by accident while looking through the forums. I think that reports reports should be more prominent in the onboarding process.
This is a much needed feature in our org. Sure, the user could set up a report but that’s clunky since we don’t have the option to filter “out” tasks I am assigned to (and with that automatically a collaborator). It would be so nice to see those in my tasks
Upvoting, this seems like a hugely essential feature. It is currently very difficult to sort through tasks which I am a collaborator vs assignee. Has this made any headway looks like requested a year ago?
+1 upvote. As original poster suggested the “My Tasks” section is where I might intuitively go to for filtering to see this view.
My use case is that sometimes I want to quickly view all the tasks I need to be aware of as a collaborator (but not assigned to) and see if I need to check-in with colleagues or remember what I might be pulled into.
+1 this is an essential feature for our team, kind of a dealbreaker for using Asana. We pair up and collaborate on a lot of tasks, and we’re having to resort to all sorts of clunky workarounds to manage this effectively.
Besides all the benefits of adding this feature to a professional setting; it would also work at a personal level.
My wife and I manage everything we have going in our lives using Asana. Most recently in focus are our newborns routine hospital appointments. This feature means I don’t have to create duplicate entries of the same task just for the sake of having it show up under “my tasks” - which also functions as our calendar basically.
The easiest fix would be to introduce another standard option that includes my tasks and anything I have been tagged in. That would present a much better view for team members to scan.
We have discovered that Asana iOS app already contains my requested feature. The Inbox of the iOS app contains the a more advantaced ability to see your your work:
tasks assigned to you
tasks where you are @mentioned (your collaborations, as per my original description)
When I open My Tasks, I would like to see items that I’m a collaborator on, in addition to the tasks that I am the Assignee for. I know we can save a search on the left side menu bar, but I build my day around MyTasks, and those often include tasks that I am a collaborator on. It would be great if that could at least be a simple toggle available at the top of My Tasks.
Thanks for the feedback @anon30208296! This isn’t something we’re planning to introduce right now, but we will certainly take it onboard for future updates! I’m not sure if you’re using Home at the moment, but I could see a “Tasks I’m collaborating on” widget
I just realised we already have a thread on this topic → View for Tasks where I'm a collaborator (under "My Tasks) so merging this convo with the existing thread to gather all comments and votes in one place I’ll keep you posted here once I have an update!
