Unable to Approve New Asana Invites

I am having problems inviting new team members to Asana. I have invited them all to a specific team, but they aren’t receiving the invite request in their email and I am receiving a pop up in the lower left hand corner that says "xyz@gmail was added to xyz project and will be added to xyz team once approve by a team admin’. Well there is nowhere within my Asana account to approve these new invites.

I have tried contacting support with no response yet. This is obviously a high priority problem, as I can not onboard new hires properly since they are unable to use Asana. Please help!

Welcome to the forum @Ashley_T,

I’m not familiar with this situation, but my best guess is that you ar enot team admin for the team you’ve added the members to and the team has this setting enabled:

Go to the member list on the team page (top right) and there you can check who is team admin. If I am correct they should be able to give them access.

Hi Jan-Rienk, Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, as our settings are set for all team members.

Plus we don’t have the “New members invited to this team must be approved by a team admin turned on either”, which is why this is so confusing because this has never happened before.

But to this point, even if the setting was set for approval, where do you go to approve new members? There is NO area in our account that shows the 4 team members that are waiting to be approved.

Hi @Ashley_T, sorry for the trouble! I see you’ve already submitted a request to our Support team. Their response time is a bit longer than usual due to high demand, but they’ll get back to you as soon as possible. They’ll be able to check if there’s any issue with the invitations.

In the meantime, I’d recommend having the users check their spam folder, and you can also double-check if their names/emails appear in the team member list by going to Team Settings > Members tab.

Please note that to ensure fairness and reduce wait times for everyone, our Support team handles requests in the order they are received. Following up or resubmitting your request will update its submission time and move it to the back of the queue.

Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Hi @Vanessa_N - Thanks for your response! I have never had such delayed responses from their support, usually it is same day. Especially when something is very time sensitive. This is causing us to have to delay projects because Asana’s system is not working properly.

The members are not receiving an invite email at all and the members do not show up in the team member list.

That was my best guess.

@lpb @Richard_Sather @Bastien_Siebman would you have any advice for Ashley?

Do you have a team admin?

@Bastien_Siebman Yes, we have been in the team admin account and haven’t been able to find anywhere we can approve new Asana invites (we never have had to do this before).

I have a similar problem. I can no longer access my workspace due to their new email policy. When I enter my email address which has been separated by domain name, asana asks me to reset the password.

which I did, but I never receive the reset email. There’s a problem with their e-mail system.

And of course, i let the support now but no answer. It’s very frustrating

@Ashley_T,

According to your settings, and based on my recollection, any existing team member at the time you made the invites should have gotten a banner notification in Asana to review and approve the invite/request to join. But I didn’t attempt to replicate this myself.

Thanks,

Larry

I concur with @lpb . Each team member should get a blue banner within Asana, asking them to approve the request of the requesting member. Whoever team member approves the request first will then result in dismissing all other banners shown to other team members.

@Ashley_T , I’m not sure you have answered @Bastien_Siebman question. If you go to the Team’s Members tab, does everyone show up as a member or is there a Team Admin role? If there is no Team Admin, then you can adopt this role as the first team admin. If there is already a Team Admin, can they also make you a Team Admin so you can try inviting those members again?

You may also want to check with you Asana Admin(s) - perhaps they have enabled a security setting where only Admins can invite members into your Asana space, especially guests (using gmail accounts). You may want to check whether your Asana admin(s) can invite these people to your team, on your behalf.

Thank you all for your help! Sorry for being MIA. It ended up that support had to reset something in the backend of our account because we had reached our 100 invite limit.

Thanks for coming back to let us know, @Ashley_T :+1:

You can’t have more than 100 invites pending? @Richard_Sather is this one listed in 🔢 List of technical and data limitations in Asana ?

Nope, not yet… I’ve added it to my list to add soon

Thanks, @Bastien_Siebman
