I believe this is more of a feature request than a current possibility, but if it’s possible I’d appreciate the insight.
We have a form set up that creates a task in a project, and what I’d like to do is create a rule that will do a round-robin type assignment of the newly created task from a set list of users.
Hi @anon42523843, welcome to the Asana Community Forum
Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback! I’ve gone ahead and moved your post to the #productfeedback to give you and other Community members the opportunity to vote for this feature I’ve also updated the title slightly to make it more discoverable, I hope you don’t mind!
I’ll keep you updated if our Product team makes any changes here!
I have multiple people on my team and we us Asana as a ticketing system. Is there a way to automatically alternate tasks that come in between the 3 users?
I’ve thought about it, but it opens up a large can of worms in terms of how do you decide who to choose next? Do you look at just the number of tasks in just the current project? What about looking at all other projects in the org since those tasks also take up peoples’ time? What if there’s a duration field indicating how long each task will take, that should then be taken into consideration. Etc. etc.
This would actually solve for a lot of simple task-queue type problems.
We use hightouch.io to generate tasks in Asana from various systems and error detections.
So far I have only assigned users explicitly on a criteria for a master list, but would be extremely valuable to allow auto-assignment within the group.
Bonus points for help spreading out task load to have some toggles on priority. (i.e. prioritize those with least open assignments etc.)
We need this feature as well. The org moved away from Jira to asana so we are looking for ways on how to do this with forms as teams are on rotation and use the forms for intake queues.
For my small organization, we utilize email alias’s where multiple people have the login and can see all activity. This does not solve the “Round Robin” product mentioned above but it can be a workaround for some.
I would also like to reiterate that this would be extremely helpful! We are using Asana as a ticketing system and without this, assignment of tickets is manual and time consuming. Is there an update for when this might be launched?
I’m also looking for the same functionality - having a list of potential assignees and having the tasks due that day shared among them is what I’m after.
