I’m the admin for a lot of Asana projects in our organization, and this results in a boat load of notifications that don’t actually pertain to me. I’ve turned off notifications from the Manage Notifications section under the Share project window for each project, but that doesn’t seem to actually stop them. It makes it hard to use Asana for my personal projects and tasks, as most of the time, the notifications I get aren’t related to me. Has anyone else experienced this?
@Christopher_Roberson Welcome back to the forums!
I hear that you have gone into individual project settings and turned off notifications. Have you also gone into your settings (accessed from your profile picture either in the upper right or bottom left [Asana has recently updated navigation]) and turned off the notifications you don’t want? These are global which will also make sure any future projects and portfolios carry the same notifications.
You can find the settings @Ron_Sanga mentions here:
Profile picture > Settings > Notifications > Project notifications / Portfolio notifications.
If you’d like the bulk updating of these live projects (which you can do with the “Manage individual projects/portfolios”) to become easier you can add your vote and voice to this topic: Petition for being able to "deselect ALL" member notification checkboxes at once in the 'member notification settings'
Hi Ron,
Yes I have.
Hi Jan-Rienk,
Yes, I have all notifications turned off there as well with a few exceptions for my own projects.
And newer projects don’t get these default settings?
I think that would (should) mean people are selecting you to recieve these notifications anyway, after you’ve been added to the project.

Another thing you can try is not to add you as a person, but add a team with you in it as admin. As teams can be added to both projects, portfolios and project templates now. Which makes it easier to add someone to the team and get access to all of these projects as admin.
They do get those default settings. I’ll try the team approach and see if that makes a difference. Thanks Jan-Rienk.
@Christopher_Roberson One other thing to check. If the team is using a template that you created, you may have been added as a collaborator on the individual tasks (this has actually happened to me) which is why you are getting notifications. Just another thought.
I’ll take a look. Thanks Ron.
