I have a custom field for event planning that lists the task category (Marketing, Committee, Logistics, etc.). We have very similar needs for another event, but some categories do not apply to that project (i.e. Auction).
Is it possible to duplicate/copy a custom field so I can modify one set without affecting the other? Is the only way around this to start from scratch?

Here is a workaround that could work for you:
Note that, since @Arthur_BEGOU 's post, the field permission settings are now different. But if you are a User (instead of Field Admin or Editor), you should see the option to Copy the field, as shown.

I see. So since I’m the field admin, I’ll have to start from scratch, yes?
No, @Marisa_Lunde , you could either:
A. ask someone on your team to make a copy for you, but make sure they only have ‘User’ access for the field.
B. add someone else as the Field Admin, downgrade you to a User so you can create the copy and then ask them to make you Field Admin again.
