The show doesn’t stop at web. Pages is also landing on iOS and Android - and yes, this one’s for everyone who’s ever had to switch to a laptop just to pull up their notes mid-meeting.
With the recent update, it seems there is also an additional option under a project’s notification settings for project members to receive notifications for “Attachments”. Can someone please tell me more about this? I’m not seeing a separate thread about attachments in particular but it seems related to the fact pages can be shared across spaces in Asana. Is this for when you attach a page (or other file) to the project at large or would folks also receive notifications for ANY page/file attached throughout the project (i.e an attachement to a task they are not on). Thanks!
The poor live collaboration features in notes was a major pain point. This update is huge, particularly because it will help my team create a streamlined experience when collaborating with execs on Asana, as we have a team that records meeting agendas in Pages.
Hi @Anna_Jos, our PM asked if you could share a screenshot of what you are seeing, so they can better understand your question, but they believe you a referring to this. Is that right?
They explained that the “Attachments” checkbox controls whether that member gets a notification (inbox/email/push, per their channel settings) when someone adds an attachment directly to the project — i.e., a file added at the project level (part of the standalone notes/pages feature), not attachments added to individual tasks. This applies to all types of attachments not just Asana Pages.
Can you clarify? The first sentence, “part of notes/pages feature” is contradicted by the second “not just Pages.” Do you mean Attachments are either 1) Notes/Pages, or 2) any project > Overview tab > Key resources > attachments at the project level?
Big UX issue here: Overloading “Attachments” to sometimes mean attachments to tasks, and sometimes mean (1) above, with no disambiguation as in the screenshot. That can’t be right!
That specific screenshot is from the project’s Member notification settings (click Share at the top of the project > click Manage notifications in “Who has access”), so it only affects attachments added at the project level. This includes Pages, as well as any files added directly to the project in the Files tab (see screenshot below).
The Files tab shows all attachments, both those attached directly to the project (not linked to a specific task) and attachments from tasks within that project.

Attachments in a project can be:
Task attachments
Message attachments
Pages
Files added to the Files tab with the “+ Add file” button
Files added to the Overview tab > Key resources > attachments at the project level
I’ve just confirmed that 1-5 (attachments added in a project in any/all of those ways) will all appear in the Files tab (your announcement here leaves some out).
Can you confirm: Will setting the attachment checkbox in the project’s Manage notifications dialog result in a notification for any/all of those 1-5 cases of a file being attached?

I’ve discovered a bug/issue here. We have a project template that had a notes page built into it to give greater context to the way those projects work. Now, in the Pages navigation listing, we have over 100 “Pages” called “Project Notes” because that’s what I called the Notes tab in the project template. This seems like there was an oversight in the planning stages of how to implement this feature. So now when I go to the Knowledge tab, under “Recents”, it will become just a big long list of the same name rather than giving any context to what project it’s on. Is there a way to bulk hide pages from this navigation or any solution?
I have a similar issue to @billyadams except a lot of our Pages have no title at all. They haven’t inherited the name of the tab view for the Page from the Project. Our Projects were created in a similar way - a Notes tab was manually added to Projects by default. Notes in Projects we hadn’t started had no titles, so now we have a few 100 Pages with no title.
It would be cool if the team (@Dominik_Brdak!) working on the API could be persuaded to write a script for titling nameless Pages and share with the community. Maybe something that took the Project (or linked Work Graph object) name and used that for the title. Or otherwise build a solution into the UI?
To solve this issue, we have moved most of the items with detailed requirements to Notion. The current Asana setup does not provide enough flexibility for managing tasks with extensive details and complex context.
Hi @lpb, I know, things got a big confusing, so thanks for the detailed breakdown.
The “Attachments” checkbox in the project’s Member notification settings is project-level only, and doesn’t affect attachments added to any other objects like tasks, for example. To go through your five cases directly:
Will setting the attachment checkbox in the project’s Manage notifications dialog result in a notification for any/all of those 1-5 cases of a file being attached?
Task attachments: No. Notifications for those depend on whether the person is a collaborator on the task, not on this setting.
Message attachments: No. Those follow the Messages checkbox in the same notification settings, not the Attachments one. If you have “Messages” in that checkbox unchecked, you will not be notified of project messages, even if they have attachments.
Pages: Yes. Pages now count as project-level attachments, so adding a page will trigger a notification for anyone with this box checked. But adding attachments to an existing page will not trigger attachment notifications.
Files added via the “+Add file” button in the Files tab: Yes, and this applies to all kinds of files added there.
Files added to Overview > Key Resources: Yes. This is also project-level, so new attachments will trigger notifications.
The important distinction is that the Files tab shows all attachments in a project, including those on tasks and messages, for visibility purposes. But that display behaviour is separate from the notification setting. The checkbox only fires for items attached directly to the project.
I’m flagging your empty state suggestion to the team. You are right that the current copy doesn’t reflect that project level attachments like Pages and Key Resources also appear there, and that’s worth updating.
