Automation - Convert to Project No Working Properly

Since this week, I’ve been facing an issue with an Asana automation where a rule is configured to convert a task into a project and add that project to a specific portfolio.

The rule appears to be running successfully, and the task is getting converted into a project. However, there are a few unexpected behaviors:

  • The automation is not visible in the task activity/history, so there is no indication that the rule has executed.
  • After the task is converted, the newly created project is not visible in the expected List view.
  • The project is also not appearing under the portfolio specified in the automation rule.
  • However, when I manually search for the project by its name, I can find the project, which indicates that the project has been created successfully.
  • The main issue is that the project is not getting added to the designated portfolio, even though this action is part of the automation.

This workflow was working as expected previously, but I have started experiencing this issue from this week. I would like to understand whether there has been any recent change, limitation, or bug affecting the “Convert task to project + add project to portfolio” automation.

Could someone please help check whether this is a known issue or if there is anything that I should consider?

@Bhumika_Bihani,

I think you should try these troubleshooting steps, then please create a support ticket: see How to contact Asana Support.

I think you may have found a bug, though I haven’t heard other reports about this.

Thanks,

Larry
