The Quick Add option doesn’t apply to form entry and the rigor that provides.
I’m 99% sure that the rules option allows you to assign tasks to a specific user, not the required variable entry of “the user that created the task”; or completed the form.
The ability to assign to a variable user, similar to JIRA automation, would be extremely helpful in creating more flexible rules which could be applied to either task creation scenario.
It would be very nice if we had the capability of {}
@{assignee}
assign task to {submitter} or add collaborator {submitter}
Often as automations are applied we no longer know who the assignee is so have the {} option would allow us to @mention them and also give us the ability to Slack message them directly.
It would be really useful to be able to have the default assignee be set as the user who submitted the form, especially given we can collect their email.
Right now, this creates a lot of manual entry for our team as we have to go in, review the details and manually assign them.
It would also be useful to have this set for subtasks as well.
Asana’s policy is not to comment on unreleased or possible future stuff, so there won’t be an update posted unless/until a given feature is implemented.
Quick update to let you know you can now use rules + variables to automatically assign tasks created via forms to their submitters. More info in this post → Now introducing Variables in Rules - #34
