Ability to multi-sort My Tasks by multiple fields

Great to see that this has now been responded to by Asana! See here: Multi-filtering on my tasks list, board and calendar views!

Agreed, would love to have multi-sort. They’ve recently implemented multi-filter, but for my use case, I want to be able to quickly look at my entire list and see what the next most important thing I need to do is. If I have to go in and change filters all the time, I’ll spend more time managing my tasks than actually doing them.

That link has nothing to do with this request - filtering and sorting are entirely different actions. Unfortunately, there’s still no solution for sorting by multiple columns.

Additionally, I still have yet to see an explanation of how asana handles sorting within the same value i.e. if you have a priority field with multiple tasks set to “high”, how will are they sorted amongst themselves?

This is mission critical. Please prioritize this feature. No reason we should not have the same functionality on a MY TASKS as individual projects.

Hi Keith. I appreciate that it’s not ideal, but at least I can now do the key thing that I wanted, which is to sort the the tasks that are due today by priority. So I Filter by Due Date specifically those due today, and then Group By: Priority.

But yes, it is bizarre that if you Group By anything other than Custom Sections, the Sort button is greyed out…

I want to be able to sort my tasks by date and then by priority within those date sections. This is pretty basic to do list type stuff, but when I try it in my tasks page, it just seems to be either or? I can either have my page sectioned by priority or by date. I can create custom sections and get around it but then that requires pretty manual sorting on my part or waiting until the midnight automations run.

Am I missing something?

Welcome, @James19,

I think the only thing you’re missing is this possible workaround, which can’t avoid happening withing any Sections you’re using in your My Tasks:

I tried that and I believe it would be implemented like this, roughly (note the settings for Filter, Group by, and Sort):

I’ve merged your post into an existing thread where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the purple Vote button.

Thanks,

Larry

I have been using a project as “my tasks” for years now because it was missing… pretty much everything haha. I have a bunch of really convoluted rules to get everything from other projects into my “All The Things” project that I was pretty excited to hopefully be getting rid of here… but alas, while we can do multiple filters now, it’s still only one sort.

Closer… Closer… So so so close…

I’m happy to say that the new functionality to sort by multiple criteria flagged here has now been rolled out to my laptop and for me at least, it now does exactly what I want. I can now set up My Tasks to first sort by Due Date, and then sort by Priority, so for each day I have a prioritised list of tasks- success!

Surprised that no one else is mentioning this here, as I think we can consider the case closed?

Thanks for the heads up @Strahan_Spencer1! As you mentioned, this feature is now available to all customers, you can find all details in our recent announcement:
