I would also like to see in forms not only the people field but a way to map the day the form was submitted to a date field in my project.
I’m trying to create a reporting request intake form and the date it was requested would be helpful to keep track of first come first serve.

The date the task is created in the destination project will be captured. For all intents and purposes, this is the form submission date. You can see it at the bottom of the Task Detail pane for each task:

And if you hover the date it will show it in full in a tooltip.
Asana only shows it there although it is a field in the database. Other tools let you see it more easily, for example Asana2Go (disclaimer: I’m the creator):

The only difference is the submission date is available in the Creation Date field, not in a date-type custom field. Is there any reason you would need it specifically in a date custom field as opposed to Creation Date?
