Today I’ve some exciting news to share in relation to comments on the task!
Our team has just started rolling out an update allowing you to post a comment with attachments all in one block! And as a picture speaks for a thousand words, here is a quick look into what your comments will look like going forward:
This new update is currently available to 10% of our customers, so please don’t worry if you can’t see it in your account just yet, it wil become available to everyone over the next couple of days!
If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comments below and make sure to log your feedback in the #productfeedback category.
This screen doesn’t really answer the question if we can do proper proper embedding within comments.
For example if I drop in a screenshot right below in this support form comment.
I can actually continue to type below it in context of what I am talking about. In Asana comments you cannot do this it creates it as a separate comment/attachment. I really hope this is what this update reflects!
HI @Greg_Pace and thanks for the follow-up! With this update, all attachments will be listed at the bottom of your comment, which means you can’t have something like this:
Text text text text

Text text text text

Hopefully this is something we can bring in a future update though!
Does this allow copy pasting of pics in Asana - or still need to drag and drop files? I often take a “snip” of something I want to share and in just about every other application I use I can just copy paste the snip without having to save it - in Asana I can’t do that so I have to save the file, go drag and drop it then delete the saved file - it’s cumbersome.
Hi @Jacky_Garneau, where do you copy your “snip” from? I just copied a screenshot I had on my desktop using “Cmd+C” and I was able to paste in my comment using “Cmd+P”!
Hi Marie, I’m using a windows system. I tried Alt Print screen and I get the reload Asana error. Also tried windows snipping tool which produces an png file that I paste into a task I get the same error. I am not trying to copy selected text.
I should also note that when attaching a png file via drag and drop, no preview of the pic is shown however I just tried saving a test pic as a jpg file and was able to paste it, and it shows a preview - so it appears the issue is with png files (which is the default format the snipping tool uses, no way to change the default from what I can tell)
@Marie I would really like the ability to link to an attachment instead of uploading it each time to different tasks. Even if this is limited to a per project basis.
Good update! I was just thinking about this last week while using Trello.
Hopefully we can see the same updates for product description as well. It will help us to explain what we need better.
