Winter 2025 Release: Turn strategies into results and requests into action

Hi Asana community,

Today, I’m excited to introduce our Winter 2025 Release! :snowflake:

In today’s fast-paced environment, teams need seamless workflows and real-time insights to stay ahead. That’s why Asana’s latest updates help turn your team’s high-level strategy into results with a goal strategy map, request tracking and enhanced integrations with Salesforce and Microsoft Teams. Plus, more new features make it easier than ever to track progress and drive strategic work forward.

See what’s new in the Asana’s winter 2025 release below:

Turn data into decisions

  • Align goals to execution with an intuitive strategy map: Navigate seamlessly from company mission to goals and supporting work with a strategy map that helps leaders diagnose roadblocks and align work to outcomes.
  • Inform strategic decisions with executive reports in PowerPoint and PDF status updates on goals: Seamlessly export portfolio lists, status updates, and milestones to MS PowerPoint (.pptx) for polished, accurate decks tailored to operating reviews and executive summaries.
  • Add context and clarity to dashboards with customizable text widgets: Enhance your dashboards with new text widgets, allowing you to add summaries, links, and URLs for richer, more impactful reports.

Track work your way

  • Build custom task types and statuses that match your team’s unique workflows: Custom task types let you define task categories such as a request and customize statuses such as “Not started”, “In progress” and “Resolved.” They integrate seamlessly with automations, reporting, sorting, and filtering, offering greater flexibility to manage and analyze work at project and portfolio levels.
  • Manage and track requests seamlessly, even from stakeholders outside Asana: All form submitters with a shared org email address can receive updates and respond back to the agent through email.
  • Keep requests moving forward with automated status updates and submitter notifications: To streamline request tracking, you can create automated rules that enhance communication and trigger actions based on comments.

Tools that work together

  • Sync Salesforce and Asana in real time to streamline workflows across departments: Sales teams and their cross-functional counterparts in Marketing and Operations spend a lot of time manually sharing information, which gets stale quickly. With Asana + Salesforce data sync, teams will be able to bring Salesforce data into Asana, and create custom workflows for teams to stay up-to-date on relevant information.
  • Create team-wide visibility with Asana project views in Microsoft Teams: Stay up-to-date on Asana projects in Microsoft Teams. Embed and edit List Views, create and update tasks, and share project status updates in Teams channels for seamless visibility into progress and risks
  • Take action on notifications directly in Microsoft Teams: Take action in real-time with Asana notifications in Microsoft Teams. Stay focused and reduce context switching with real-time Inbox notifications that let you reply to comments, create follow-up tasks, and complete work, without ever leaving Microsoft Teams.
  • Bridge communication and execution gaps with custom reminders in Microsoft Teams: create custom reminders in Microsoft Teams to inform collaborators about task updates and comments.
  • Surface insights and recommendations with smart chat in Microsoft Teams: Get immediate summaries on the status of projects and tasks to increase visibility into the progress of work, and more.

Hi @Gil_Malengreaux, the features have been released already! You can find the Asana plan each feature is available to in the linked help center articles

I have found two spelling errors in the official release document - i reported to support but don’t know if that’s the correct avenue. There may be more, but i haven’t had a chance to thoroughly read through it.

Thanks for flagging this @Cheryl_Lemos! I’ll send your feedback to our team so we can update the release kit :raised_hands:

@Emily_Roman My team wants to adopt the new custom status feature.

In the bulk edit menu, I can use the Mark as feature to assign a custom status to tasks. But, all tasks get assigned first status in the list - in our case, Blocked. I don’t see a way to change status in the bulk edit menu. Please advise!

Why make goals available but not goal templates? We can create goals, but we have to upgrade to use the templates? Makes no sense

when I create the custom status in one project I see a message that it MAY be visible across the organization, but so far I cannot find a way to link it to multiple projects. the custom task types with statuses is nice, but right now i cant share one across multiple projects or add one to a bundle.

Right - custom task types are project-specific and can’t be shared across projects. Well, except for…

Meaning that if you have a custom type defined in Project A and you multi-home a task having a custom type into Project B, you’ll see the custom type and status on that task in Project B even though the custom type doesn’t actually exist (i.e. is not defined) in Project B.

Yeah we’re hoping they’ll add that, but we don’t know if it might come to pass or not.

This is really a powerful release.
I have already put in use custom task statuses and about to launch the responses via emails.

Text widgets are already added and a newly designed report is about to be launched. And these are only 3 new features.
