When I choose to tag a specific person, the text is highlighted and deleted

When I choose to tag Stephanie Taylor into a board and finish typing the first word after her name is tagged, as soon as I hit the space bar, her name/tag is highlighted so as soon as I type the next letter (after hitting the space bar) her tag deletes and the typing begins right where her tag used to be.

Steps to reproduce: Type in a board, type @Stephanie and select Stephanie Taylor, hit the space bar and then type first word and then hit space bar to add a space before the next word - her tag will highlight so that when you continue typing, her tag will delete and in it’s place the word you just started typing will start.

Hi @Mike38, welcome to the Asana Community Forum! This is currently expected behaviour, when you select all text in the comment box and then press space, the text will be deleted. In order to avoid that the text is deleted, you can @ mention the user and place the cursor where you need to continue typing instead of highlighting the name. Let me know if this is not what you are experiencing and I’ll be happy to investigate further!

Hey Emily. It is a bit of a difficult thing to explain and I was only allowed to upload one screenshot since this is first time I have ever posted, but your understanding is not quite right.

First, the issue we are seeing only happens with one specific username. No other user name causes the behavior.

Second, I am not referring to selecting a group of text and then hitting the space bar. If we were doing that, I would totally agree with you.

So the issue is this - when I type @Stephanie, her tag name pops up in a list as Stephanie Taylor. I then select her name, hit the space bar and start typing. Once I have typed the first word after selecting her name and hit the space bar, her name is automatically selected/highlighted as well as the word I just typed (see the screen shot I uploaded above). I am not selecting the text manually - it is literally happening automatically and totally out of my control. So as soon as I type the very next letter, the highlighted name is removed, but the first word I typed is not. Then the letter(s) I type now are in front of the first word that I typed after selecting her name from the list. So even though the first word is highlighted, it is not deleted. See the screenshot I have attached here. You will notice the name is gone and the “w” is the first letter I typed after typing the first word (are) and hitting the space bar but now it is in front of the first word I wrote after her name.

I hope this makes more sense. It is really really strange.

Thanks for getting back to me and for sharing the extra context, @Mike38! You are right, this is strange and looks like it could be related to a browser issue. Hey There;
So I figured out what the issue is. Unfortunately it was not what you noted above. It is a bug in Asana. If the member name is all lower case, the behavior that I have described in the post above occurs. If you change the all lower case name to an upper case to start the first and last name, the issue goes away.
