Was there an update to notifications for Teams?

Some of the members of our Asana organization have started getting their inboxes exploded by email notifications recently. I decided to have a look at notification settings for one project and noticed there is now checkboxes for teams?

These checkboxes include the classic, Status Updates, Messages and Work added, but now also one for Attachments.

I hadn’t seen an announcement for this, but we have over 400 projects and it appears the only way to toggle off these notifications is to manually go through each project and disable the status update and tasks added notifications.

I understand the individual users can go into their notification settings and make it so they don’t receive these for future projects, but I’m really curious with this change whether a similar notification setting menu was setup for Teams?

Thank you for the quick response and clarifications on Attachments. Makes much more sense.

I’m specifically asking about Email notifications through the team notifications seen in the below screenshot. By default several are subscribed to Status Updates and Messages which appears to be clogging some users email inboxes or perhaps I’m mistaken and these only affect Asana inbox notifications?

I think it’s easiest to think about these kind of Notifications as a two-step feature.

1. The dialog you showed, and all the ones like it, are the first step. You choose to receive Asana Inbox notifications or not for each of the available notification types (e.g, Status updates) for that work object (e.g., a particular project or portfolio).
2. A user can set email notifications at profile image > Settings > Notifications > Email Notifications. The first three groupings allow you to duplicately receive in email those notifications you’re already getting in the Asana Inbox. But if in (1) you turned those off to your Asana Inbox, regardless of the settings here you won’t get an email because you’re not getting the notification in the first place.
   
   
   • Note “When status updates are posted” and “When messages are sent”–those correspeond to the columns in your screenshot.

These other email notifications groupings are different:

These are email-only notifications and don’t participate in the two-step approach above. They are unique emails and only set in this one place.
