Hey Asana community, is there a way to turn off these notifications from the Asana inbox?
I’ve looked at project settings, portfolio settings, team settings, and I do not know what else to do.
Any insight is highly welcomed ![]()
You might try:
You can also disable/enable other kinds of notifications you want at the project level. e.g., Status updates, messages, task added, and attachments.
You can change these settings during step 3 above also; but any settings at the project level override those default settings.
Are you sure about this? I thought that notification is only controlled here by a person adding a team as a project member (the first checkbox):
Those other settings control other aspects.
On a somewhat related note, I think there’s no way to control the notification if you accept the default Asana recommendation of adding a team upon project creation because there’s no checkbox there:
I got this question from a client this morning: Is there a way to disable that Asana team add suggestion? They’ve had users “oversharing” without realizing and wanted to turn that off. I’m unaware of a way to do that. Anyone? @Forum-team?
Thanks,
Larry
@lpb - Ah, I see what you’re saying. I didn’t notice the notification was for “X shared this project with Y” and thought it was a notification about a “status update.”
Yeah, I don’t think there’s a way to turn those off. We never check the “Notify new members about joining this project” option so I forgot that was even a thing.
@AbigailB, you may want to let Cody Sikorski and anyone else that makes projects to stop checking that option and instead just message people intentionally when they want them to receive a notification.
Thank you! I do not think they are manually sharing the project. Our workflow is to create projects from templates that add the projects to specific portfolios. From there, the portfolios have shared access since we need everyone with access to the portfolio to be able to see the projects but not necessarily notified every time a new project is added.
