We need a view for users to be able to see upcoming tasks where they are a Collaborator. At many agencies, like mine, there’s one accountable task owner, but then several collaborators who should also be aware of the upcoming deadlines — and it wouldn’t be practical to duplicate the task 7 different times for each collaborator, because then it just causes an unnecessary mess in the project view, as well as confusion around true ownership/accountability.

I’ve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button at the top-left.
Workaround: You can save an advanced search report (Collaborators: me) to your sidebar that will always show a refreshed view of all tasks you’re a collaborator on (sort by Due date before you “star” it to save it).

That is the right solution, no reason for Asana to do anything else, it exists already 
Well, others may want more functionality (filters, sorts, views) than the limited ones an advanced search result provides.

@lpb 100%. But the workaround is pretty damn good, and if I was in charge of prioritising, I wouldn’t fix something that has a pretty damn good workaround…
There are 321 votes here. If it were me, I’d want to understand more. For example, do those 321 people know about the solution and it’s not sufficient for them, and why, or do they not even know about the solution–that points to another problem: discoverability of saved search reports, at least for this workaround.

You are correct, that many votes is valid to at least launch an investigation and see if an Asana PM is in charge of that area and if that’s being considered. The homepage widgets have been worked on quite a bit recently so I can definitely see that being done as a new widget, not sure about a new link in the side nav

I’d like to offer a few comments on this topic (these are my personal opinions).
When using the advanced search function to specify a collaborator, it displays not only tasks where that person is a collaborator, but also their assigned tasks. A filter to exclude assigned tasks might be useful.
After saving a search to favorites, changing the search criteria removes it from favorites, which makes it inconvenient to search while adjusting conditions. In a normal project, added filters can be reused by saving the view — it would be nice to have similar behavior for saved searches.
In Asana, the relationship between tasks and projects is arbitrary. As a result, individual tasks often end up existing only in someone’s “My Tasks.”
When a task is created and assigned to someone else, the creator is automatically set as a collaborator — but following up on that task’s progress afterward isn’t something search alone handles well.
Asana’s basic design of being teamless and projectless has many advantages, but I think it also creates some unfortunate gaps. In that sense, I’d like to see a function for managing collaborators beyond just search.
Right now, Asana’s biggest focus is undoubtedly AI. Equally important, I think, is expanding adoption into large companies and similar organizations — the recent feature changes do feel geared toward that. That said, since task management is ultimately meant to improve the efficiency of each individual’s work, I hope Asana continues making detailed improvements to features for individual users as well.
