Suddenly cannot view PDF's after updates

So, Asana updated (Samsung/Android) overnight. Tablet has Asana 8.3.3 , running stock Samsung/Android One UI 6.1

This Asana update totally broke viewing PDF’s and this tablet is now quite useless for our production team. They use it for paperless viewing of PDFs.

We get a popup “This feature requires ‘read media’ permissions. To use it, please grant this permission” and it’s immediately followed another popup that says “There was an error while creating a preview for this file, please open it using an external application instead”.

We can download the file and view it, but there’s no sense in having to do that, it’s going to bloat the memory on this tablet, we open a lot of fairly hefty PDFs.

This thing worked fine yesterday. Can anyone suggest a solution?

That sounds like a bug. Best thing to do when encountering bugs is to contact Asana support

Adding clear screenshots of error messages and steps to reproduce helps.

Bugs that Asana considers critical will be monitored in the Critical Bugs category.
