At the moment, when adding a new subtask, they automatically populate at the end of the subtask list. In cases where a task has many subtasks, users are then forced to click “Load more subtasks” to view the most recently added subtasks.
I’d suggest that Asana give users the option to show subtasks in reverse chronological order in these cases (or somehow allow users to switch between the two). In other words, when there are so many subtasks that additional subtasks can only be viewed when you “Load more,” the handful of subtasks that can be viewed should be the most recently added subtasks.
Hi @anon25461858, thanks for sharing this feedback! You are right, when adding new subtasks, they are automatically populated at the end of the subtask list.
We currently don’t have a workaround for this, I’m sorry for the inconvenience! I’ve gone ahead and sent your suggestion to our team in charge of the Voice of the Customer Program.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have follow up questions
One workaround is to drag subtasks around to put them in the order you want. The order is sticky, so I occasionally drag old subtasks to the bottom of the main task.
We have automated our task creation process from Google sheets to Asana and need the tasks to appear at the top. The easiest way to do this for us would be sorting by creation date, but it only shows the oldest tasks first. We are hanging out for the ability to reverse sort!
Checking in here as well. Today I came across a real need to view subtasks within a task alphabetically… (30ish subtasks)
Any chance that this will ever happen. Could see subtask sorting becoming useful, especially if it can be done without disturbing the parent task level.
No longer true… When creating subtasks out of a task they go into any random order they feel like it. Its terrible, We have had multiple support sessions regarding this and no one at Asana can figure it out and insists they go to the end of the list which is not good either as you have mentioned, Subtasks… where the work is actually tracked cannot be properly visualized in Asana.
