When sorting tasks by due date, the tasks are sorted by due date but not by time due. For example, if I have two tasks due today, and one is due at 10:00AM and the other is due at 4:00PM, those tasks are sorted alphabetically rather than by time due. Please fix.
Hi @Mike_Hough and welcome to the Forum!
Sorry for the late reply here. I tried to reproduce it on my end and I when Sorted by Due Date it also sorted by Time. Please, see screenshot below:
Could you please share a screenshot of what you’re seeing so I can help you further with this?
Looking forward to your reply!
Hi @Mike_Hough
`I just wanted to confirm if you were still experiencing this issue. If yes, could you please share a screenshot of what you are seeing? This would be super helpful!
Looking forward to your reply! Have a great Wednesday!
Hi Natalia -
e-mail 1 of 3:
Yes the problem is still occurring. If you look at the attached Board view screenshot, sorted by due date, the third column has two tasks that are not in the proper order: “Create and upload video files” has a due date of July 29 @ 5:00PM and incorrectly
appears before “Video shoot” which has a due date of July 29 @ 7:30AM.
In list view, as you will see in the screenshot, the tasks do appear in the proper order when sorted by due date, but sorting this way displays the individual tasks out of their relevant sections, which I don’t like at all. If I select “none” as the sort
order, then the tasks appear in their assigned sections, but they do not appear in due date order (which I assume is standard). So the Board View sorting is the issue.

Thank you so much for the additional information and the screenshots @Mike_Hough!
I was able to reproduce it on my end as well so I’ve gone ahead and filed a bug with our Development Team. I’ll be in touch as soon as I have more information!
Thank you for your help!
+1 curious user can we have a mid-term update about the results?
thank you, Peter
HI @Peter_Varga1 and apologies for the delay in responding.
Unfortunately I don’t have any further information to share at the moment but rest ensure I’ll keep you posted as soon as I have an update!
Have a great Thursday!
Natalia the issue still persists. When I try to sort by date there is an 11am event that goes to the top however my 9am event stays at the bottom. I don’t understand this…
HI @Nicholas_Pinn, Marie here a colleague of Natalia.
Could you confirm the following information?
- What device, OS and version of Asana you’re using?
- Is this also happening on the web version?
I am using Web app version of Asana running on my MacBook Pro using the safari browser. I believe I am using the latest version of the software. It usually updates automatically.
Thanks @Nicholas_Pinn, looks like we’ve another thread on the same topic, so I’ve moved your last update there → Sort by Due Date only sorts by date, not by time - #8 by Natalia
I’ve also pinged the bug we filed for this issue and will keep you posted when I have an update!
I am experiencing issues with sort by due date and time. It is just not working properly. See image. You will see some tasks are way off.
(Yes, I tasked my son his chores through Asana)
FYI - I am using Chrome

- Create 2 tasks: one for today, one for tomorrow.
- Add a due time to the task due tomorrow.
- Change to list view

Hi @Christian_Skinner, welcome to the Asana Community Forum! Sorry for the trouble here.
We already have a thread in our bugs category related to this issue so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with Sort by Due Date only sorts by date, not by time - #14 by Marie to consolidate reports. I’ve sent a note to our development team about your issue and I’ll keep the bug report updated as soon as I have more details.
This was opened almost two years ago, what’s happening?
