The new shareable link view is a great feature but it lacks some important information. It would be ideal if the same view set for the project is displayed on the shareable view site. Currently, the Projects and Custom Fields are not displayed which makes the feature basically useless.
Hi @Ryan_Ruch, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!
As read-only links are still a relatively new feature, hopefully this is something our Product team can add in the future.
Iâll keep you posted and let you know if we have any updates
I donât believe the âProjectsâ field would ever be shown, as that would give you insights into the Asana account even though you only shared a single projectâŠ
You could say the same thing about custom fields, that they shouldnât be shown, at least in a blanket manner of showing all of them - an organizational custom field could have been filled in inside of a private project that isnât appropriate to be shared publicly.
Hi,
I am a new member and we just upgraded to a premium account. We are a Amazon
bureau and use Asana for our internal work.
We would like to send a link (using the function Create a link) to our customers so that they can see which tasks we are working on, what the status of each task is and how much each task costs. So they can click on the link whenever the like and se how the tasks are moving forward and what they are paying us for.
But when I create a link it only shows the columns deadline and assigned. Which is of none important to our clients. The need to see status and price and those columns are not standard, we have built/customized them.
Is it possible to send a link to our clients so they can see tasks, status and price?
Hi @Anton_SÀwström, welcome to the Asana Community Forum
While this feature isnât available at this time, hopefully itâs something our Product team can implement in the future
We do have an existing thread for this feature request in the #productfeedback category so Iâve gone ahead and merged your post with the existing one to consolidate feedback.
Iâll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates
I agree with you @Ryan_Ruch
Thanks @Rebecca_McGrath!
That would be really great if more task fields would be visible through the read-only link. Both standard fields and customized fields. At the very best optional so you can chose which fields should be visible in the read-only link.
The tool Monday has this function and it is really important for us to be able to show tasks and different statuses on the tasks for our clients through a read-only link.
Hope to see this function soon.
All the best!
It would be great if the overview tab was viewable by those on the shareable link. That would allow those people to see the background to the project/relevant links and information.
At the top right of asana projects is a function âcreate link.â This is a helpful tool. However, it needs some refinement. Most notably it should look exactly as-is on screen. So, it should include filters, column widths, fields shown/not, etc.
Although I do see them expanding this functionality, it is not meant to replace adding someone to the project itself. It is a balance between a licensed user and non-licensed.
I would at some time like to have the ability where an org email can be at a lesser rate with limited functionality like a guest has, but with the ability to create portfolios and dashboards.
+1 to this request. Read-only link would be really useful if it could match the board view I see including custom fields, and just prevent the viewer from making any changes.
I would find this very helpful when sharing score cards and things with people who do not use Asana as its quick basic justing showing lists.
+1 it doesnât make sense that you can see a list view in the read only but NOT the custom fields/columns. Itâs basically useless. As usual asana creates 50% of what is needed to be useful
Asana Form is great for users who only want to submit their requests and the like, but when using this view-only they see the Taskâs title, but not the Form they submitted. It should be available where at minimum read-only users get to see what is inside the Description field of tasks.
Is there any update on this subject? its seems the first request was from ore than year ago.
@Xavi_Casals no update on this topic, and the age of a request is unrelated to when or if it will be implemented.
Letâs hope this is coming soon.
Is there a work around in sharing information?
We would use this to publish all the events with some information about them to several departments in our university (Security, Marketing,âŠ) so they know whatâs going on.
Maybe Asana2Go from @lpb to export a project as a PDF for example?
Hi there,
We need to use public link in order to share and show project progress to people who are not part of the Asana project team. For that we activated the public link function on list and share them the link. From there everything is working except the fact that custom fields of our project arenât display on the public link view.
Here is our project list view within Asana (with all our custom fields) :
Here is public link list view (without the custom fields informations we want to share) :
Is there a good way to do what we need to do ?
And is there a reason of this limitation or maybe is it a bug or a wrong use we made ?
We are thinking of adding an option on each custom fields to permit it like this :
We will appreciate your feedback on this situation and maybe know if it is a needs to you also ?
Thanks a lot
Best regards
