Show date and Time in Comments rather than "X days ago"

WANT TO EXPORT COMMENTS OR COPY AND PASTE FOR AN EMAIL OR REPORT OF A PROJECT. CANT SHOW TIME AND DATE. ONLY SAYS 5 DAYS AGO. IF I PRINT THAT AND LOOK AT IT IN 10 DAYS, THAT IS INACCURATE. HOW DO I CHANGE FROM DISPLAYING “DAYS AGO” TO DATE AND TIME THAT DOES SHOW IF I HOVER OVER. SO THE CHANGE WOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT PROGRAMMING WISE.

NOTE THAT EVEN ON THIS FORUM YOU ARE DISPLAYING DATE. NOT 15 DAYS AGO.

Welcome to the Forum @RAFAEL4 and thank you for reaching out!

I completely understand what you mean here . Unfortunately, it is no possible to switch from displaying “x days ago” to “date and time”. This is not a bug, but definitely something we could improve in the future.

I’ve gone ahead and moved this thread to the #productfeedback category to allow all of you to comment and submit their vote. I’ve also slightly edited the title to make this thread more discoverable to other users. I hope it’s OK

Please, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

I would prefer an absolute date in most scenarios. Seeing “26 days ago” requires me to open up a calendar. When something occurred that long ago I really need the exact date.

It’s especially confusing when working with an international team. What is “yesterday” when the other collaborator is in Hong Kong which is basically a day ahead of us?

A timeDate that can be set to the local timezone of each collaborator gives everyone the info they need.

Not at the moment @ham but I’ll make sure to update here as soon as I hear anything on my end!

Thank you for casting your vote! Have a nice day!

I would also appreciate this feature. The current format is not export friendly.

Hello Natalia,

I have just started with Asana. Is this date feature already taken care off. It does not seem like it when using Asana…? Still see X days ago instead of the proper date.

Marco

I agree with this request to show the actual date/time instead of “N days ago”.

However, note that if you hover your cursor over the “26 days ago”, it will display the actual date/time - so you shouldn’t ever have to open a calendar.

Oh, that’s great!

Has it always done that?

Much thanks!

I think it always has, not 100% sure.

3 years later and this is still not fixed. We are not asking for a system-wide changing new feature. It’s just laziness on dev side (which hurts me to say, as I’m a dev myself). The data is there (date shows when you hover with mouse) so, it’s a matter of proper formatting of the output to show the absolute date rather than “x days ago”.

Still nothing on this fix? Even an option to toggle from static date to “hover” date?

It’s incredible important to have ACTUAL timestamps when exporting completed projects as documentation for record keeping.

Are we able to prioritise this function? Deadly important for our work flow.

At the bottom of each task is the task history that tells you when changes were made or a task was moved. It tells you when this happened by saying “2 days ago” or “21 days ago” if you scroll over “2 Days ago” the actual date it was moved or changed will pop up like, “July 21, 2022 9:39 AM.”
I really wish this feature worked the opposite, especially since we print physical copies of our tasks to go with physical products. “2 Days ago” on a printed sheet of paper that could have been printed out at any time is useless, but leading with the actual dates those changes were made would be extremely helpful to anyone who prints physical copies of their tasks. I also think the actual date is more helpful information digitally than “17 days ago” and should lead with that, and if you scroll over the actual date, then it can tell you “17 days ago”

Welcome to the Asana Community Forum

I have found an existing feedback request thread that seems to be about what you are asking for?

Also not sure if you are aware about the metadata fields that might be helpful for you too

Just chiming in to say I’d love this as well. “X days ago” isn’t particularly helpful for my use-cases.

Same issue, and I can’t believe that this has not been fixed after 3 years. What good is it to have a product feedback category, if the developers ignore it? @Natalia can we at least get a status update?

We’re now in 2023. Can we get some traction to apply this simple fix?

As more professionals work with Asana, it would be helpful to have a time stamp.

If we could keep both a time stamp and x days ago, that would be helpful. Maybe the ability to show either or both would be great.

I hope posting to the forum does not work like the Asana ticketing system, where each new message pushes your request back down the line.

Why is it still not possible to override the “days ago” or “due on monday” setting?

A lot of people are asking for this (see multiple threads on the forum).

It also seems a much easier fix than al the updates that are being rolled out.

Let users choose to see due dates in a European or American date / time format (even with the option 12/24 h), but do away with the silly “days ago” or “due on friday”.
