I’m wondering if there’s a way or a widget where I can schedule comments in projects? for example I comment at 8pm at night but it shows at 9am the next morning. Similar to scheduled emails.
It does not exist in Asana no.
Hi @Andrea_Finch and welcome to the Forum! ![]()
As @Bastien_Siebman explained, there isn’t a feature available to achieve this at the moment.
If it is OK with you, I’m moving your post to the #productfeedback category to allow other users to vote for this idea. Please don’t forget to upvote it!
Have a nice Monday Andrea!
I’ve voted on this. To add my user story:
As a developer, I often update a heroku review app by adding a commit to a pull request on github.
As a good colleague/agency, I would like to update my colleague/client at the correct time, to review the latest changes, so that my colleague/client doesn’t view the review app before the changes have made their way through deployment.
In practical terms. I usually end up commenting something like “That should be live in the next 10/15 mins” and my colleague or client may click in too early.
Having scheduled comments would make this a nicer experience for both me and others that read my comments.
Adding to the reques - I work 15 hours ahead of most of my team and so when I am commenting/replying it is late in the night. I batch my emails to arrive to them at their start of work day and would like to be able to do the same in asana. thansk.
I vote for this feature too! I work long hours and feel badly that when I’m catching up in Asana I may interrupt the evenings of colleagues and clients. Would be great to have a “schedule to send” á la gmail. Thx!
My personal and controversial stance is that it is the role of the receiver to enable or disable notifications. If I want to send you a Whatsapp message at 2am, that is your problem if that wakes you up, not mine

I would love this feature too.
It’s not so much about disrupting colleagues and clients me for - it’s more about communicating within business hours so that clients don’t get the impression that I’m available around the clock.
I also like to make sure that certain messages leave at the end of the day, versus the beginning, and would like to queue them up ready to send in advance.
I used to agree with above comment saying the person receiving the alerts is responsible for managing them. But you can’t control other people. Scheduling messages at least gives you some control over how alerts are sent, which can help improve the way they are managed. It’s becoming standard in other apps, e.g. Gmail and Slack, as WFH and distributed teams become more common.
If I’m working on a Saturday, for example, these are my top concerns as the sender:
- Messages outside working hours get lost more easily. By Monday, weekend alerts can be pushed to the bottom of the list.
- I’m lucky to work with a high performance team. They know they don’t have to answer messages on the weekend, but many of them will. That’s 100% their choice but I like to think I can help protect their time and mental wellbeing by not sending alerts on a Saturday to begin with.
- If you only send emergency-level alerts after hours, you increase the chances emergencies will be recognized and dealt with. When people are used to getting low-priority alerts at all hours, it’s harder to recognize when something actually needs to be addressed.
- The weekend is my personal time too. If I choose to catch up on work, I don’t necessarily want my colleagues thinking I’m online, working, and available for just anything.
Point #3 is very very true. I would have to agree with point #1 even though I’d love people manage their emails and todo lists properly. Point #2 is a good one, especially if you are a manager. Point #4 is great.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes! I can schedule emails and slack messages, and really really wish I could do the same for Asana comments!
Agreed
I agree with this to a point. However, as an executive, I often am working past regular work hours, but don’t necessarily want to foster that work culture for my employees. I prefer that they don’t feel like they have to do that or see me as setting a bad example - so very much appreciate the ability to schedule emails and slack messages to arrive during their work hours. It also helps ensure that important messages get delivered at a time when you know the receiver will see it immediately if need be.
I have voted for this. Looking to find a way to notify a user 7 days after the completion of one event to trigger another.
Currently, it is set up as a rule within the project that when a task is moved to the section, the next subtask is assigned with a due date 7 days after it is added to the section. However, while testing everything, the user does not get a notification as I would like, and moreover it would be nice for that notification to come at or around the 7 day mark as that is when they will be completing the final task (sending a survey 7 days after a product has shipped from our warehouse. Too early, and they likely haven’t received the product)
error404, how has this not been implemented yet?
Working with various stakeholders, in various timezones, that would be an awesome feature to have. Especially that you might want to actually get that comment out of the way when you think of it, instead of having to remind yourself on your to-do list, commenting again on it and waiting for your collaborator to answer.
I think this feature needs to happen. Society is moving towards work/life balance and if you choose to work late hours, you will inevitably, be judged.
The schedule comment tool just allows flexibility within that predicament.
We are also moving toward more and more asynchronous work, and people choosing to work whenever they want. They shouldn’t have to drain their mental energy trying to delay everything they do just not to be judged :). (but that is an unpopular opinion, I know)
Having scheduled comments would make a better working experience and a better way of organizing work!
Hi all! I agree this feature would be very much appreciated. It helps keep project communications rolling across different teams/timezones.
Is there an update on whether this will be added to Asana?
