Salesforce → Asana: Can a Go-Live date update cascade to dependent tasks using native automation?

Hi everyone

I’m evaluating a Salesforce → Asana integration and want to sanity-check whether a specific use case is achievable using native functionality only.

Use case overview:

  • When a Salesforce Opportunity moves to Closed Won, an Asana project is created from a template :white_check_mark:

  • The project template includes:

    • A Go-Live milestone

    • Multiple tasks with dependencies tied to that milestone

  • Salesforce has a Go-Live Date field

What we’d like to achieve:

  • If the Go-Live Date on the Opportunity changes in Salesforce after the project is created:

    1. Update the Go-Live milestone due date in Asana

    2. Automatically adjust the due dates of the dependent tasks accordingly

Questions:

  1. Using the native Salesforce–Asana integration and Asana rules, is it possible to:

    • Update the Go-Live milestone when the Salesforce date changes?
  2. Beyond that, is there any native way to:

    • Cascade that date change across dependent tasks, or

    • Recalculate task due dates based on a shared Go-Live date or custom field at the project level?

I understand dependencies auto-shift during manual timeline edits, but I’m unclear whether the same behavior can be triggered through automation or external Salesforce updates.

If this isn’t supported natively, confirmation of that limitation would be very helpful as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Julieta_Arenzo2 this is a great set of questions and use cases. I am not as familiar with the Salesforce to Asana integration as some of my fellow @ambforumleader might be so I am looping them into this one to see if they have any insight. Selfishly, I am also very curious for the answer as well as I work extensively in the Salesforce ecosystem too in addition to Asana.

Agreed! Good use cases, I too am not familiar with sales force. Hopefully those who use it can provide some insight :+1:t3:
