Reporting on creation time for support tickets

@Richard_Sather Do you know if there’s a way to extract just the time from the created on date? I’m building a support ticket space and they are interested in seeing volume of submissions by time of day and I’m struggling to find anyone talking about this in the forums, Reddit or elsewhere. Or to use a rule to set another custom field (like “10 a.m.-12 p.m.”) if the submission was received during that two-hour period of any given day? Thanks for any tips you can point me toward.

Hi @Elizabeth_Lumsden , for starters, you can enable the ‘Created on’ field from the oddly-named ‘Hide’ button along the top of your project. But there is not a whole lot else you can do with it within Asana, apart from Dashboard charts but they will just show how many tasks were created per day/month etc, not actual time of day.

But you can definitely use Asana’s API to extract this metafield or use a low-code 3rd party app like Zapier which can parse the data and refer to a lookup table in order to then update a custom field based on the creation time. That custom field could be a dropdown of hour slots in the day. That same field could then be used to populate your chart in your dashboard, natively in Asana.

Btw, the thread you originally posted in refers to the formula field which I don’t think will help you in this case, so I’ll move your post into it’s own topic in the Tips and Tricks section.
