Is there any way to make a rule based on Creation Date?

I am hoping to dynamically populate a single-option custom field based on when something was added to Asana. I don’t see “Created on” in the options for rules. Is there a workaround to this or are we limited to what we can see? Are rules complex enough to do something like “If Task created between Date A and Date B, option is Option 1”?

Thank you!

I’m afraid this is not possible natively in Asana.

I’ve moved your post so you and others can now vote on it at the top of the thread.

In the meantime, perhaps a third-party app offers this, like flowsana.net (@Phil_Seeman), zapier.com or make.com.

Thanks,

Larry

Enabling a creation date rule trigger is important because there are circumstances when the available triggers are not sufficient. For example, I would like to set a custom field with the current fiscal year which would be based on the creation date of the task. Neither the due date nor start date will work in our situation because 1) we don’t typically use a start date and 2) the due date can fluctuate as the project or task progresses. The creation date is the only date related to a project or task that is fixed – which is precisely why it would be perfect to use in this use case. I’m positive there would be many other use cases for a creation date trigger if had that available.
