Dear all, my boss asked me to downgrade back to the free version of Asana. As many of you, I then discovered that we could not access to old projects that included custom fields. Now, I opened a trial period to actually remove “milestones” and new “fields”
I am not able to permanently remove the created fields. As you can see in the photo, although I removed the field from the main page, they are still included in the different tasks.
Hi @Marina_Gomei, welcome to the Asana Forum! It’s possible that the custom fields are added at the project level and they need to be deleted from each project. I recommend you checkin the Customize menu on your projects to verify all custom fields.
Dear Emily, many thanks for you reply.
I actually removed all custom fields from each projects. So the image I attached to my message shows that although I have already removed the field from the project, they are still included in the different tasks the fields “Status” “2023 priority level” and “Priority” are still included in the tasks.
How I can permanently remove the costom fields from each project? Thanks!
Marina
@Marina_Gomei, Are you saying that you have removed all custom fields from all projects that the tasks are possibly multi-homed to? That would be the requirement, I believe.
Or @Emily_Roman, Is there some requirement to “empty” (set to no value) each custom field before removing the field from the project? I know that unless you do that, a task can show its old fields/values. Does that come into play here with this new requirement to not have paid features left after a trial?
If you created global fields, you would need to delete the global field entirely from the library instead of removing it from the project. Select field in the project > edit field > delete field. This will ensure the field is removed from all tasks and you don’t need to empty each custom field value.
It looks like the custom fields are part of the project Scaling DEEP, can you try removing the task from that project and see if the custom field still appear?
Dear Emily
I was really happy of your suggestion. You were actually rights, I did what you suggested and it worked. However, when I moved on to another project, I found again the same issue.
If you look at the image below, you see the open task assigned only to 1 project (“Coordination”) where all fields have been removed. However, it still shows 1) “My tasks fields” - already removed in My taks, and 2) “Fields” with “Status” and “Tags” that don’t appear in the main page of “Coordination” (see on the left side of the page).
