Quickly add tasks to Asana from any web page with the new Chrome Extension

The Summer 2024 major update to the Asana Chrome Extension lets you seamlessly create and manage tasks from anywhere in your browser.

Key Features

  • Create tasks from any webpage: Click the extension’s icon to open a sidebar with a draft task pre-assigned to you with the page’s title and link in the task description ready to be created. You can optionally set several other key task attributes as well.

  • Create tasks from highlighted text: Right-click and select “Create task” to turn any selected web content into an actionable task.

  • Find, view, and edit tasks: Without leaving the browser page, find, view and update task details, add collaborators, and more from the extension’s right sidebar.

  • Create tasks from Gmail: A prominent “Create task” shortcut appears at the top of emails to turn an email into a task, auto-filling the email title and recipients. (A couple of extension settings are available to further configure this feature.)

Why Use It?

  • Bring work into Asana: Turn content from outside Asana into structured, actionable tasks. Organize reference info from disparate sources.
  • Save time: Cut down on time spent duplicating information across tools.
  • Keep current: Ensure everyone is working with the most up-to-date information as work progresses or changes.

Getting Started

  1. Install the extension: Go to Asana in the Chrome Web Store and click “Add to Chrome.”
  2. Log in: Click the Asana icon in the top right of your browser and log in to your Asana account.
  3. Create tasks: See the Key Features section above to begin creating tasks directly from your browser.

More Info

  • For all Asana plans: The extension is compatible with and free to use on all Asana plan levels.
  • Works with Edge browser: The Asana Chrome extension is also compatible with Microsoft Edge browser.

Is there any news on an equivalent to this for Firefox?
