Question About Guest Account Usage for Contractors and Freelancers

Hi Asana Community!

I’m considering adopting Asana to help manage my projects, and I want to make sure I fully understand the policies regarding guest accounts before moving forward.

Here’s my use case:

  • I plan to use two Advanced accounts for myself and a direct collaborator.
  • I’ll be working with about 30 external individuals, including freelancers and contractors.
  • One external partner will play a more significant role—they manage a team of around 20 people.

:bulb: Important Context:

  • None of these collaborators are my employees, and they don’t have email addresses associated with my domain.
  • I want to use Asana to coordinate their work and limit their access to specific tasks or projects.

My Question:

Would this setup comply with Asana’s guest account policy? I want to ensure I follow all the rules and avoid any issues down the road.

Thanks so much for your guidance! I appreciate the help in advance and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers,

Hi @Kajetan_Mirecki, thank you for your question! As long as your guest usage complies with the terms outlined here, you should be all set.

Please note that free guests are only available in organizations, as they are identified based on their email domain. Membership is determined by whether users are registered with your corporate email domain.

If your setup is a workspace rather than an organization, all users, regardless of their email address or level of access, will count towards your paid plan. You can find more details here.

I hope this helps!
