Print format is different now, 5/14/2024

My workforce will print our daily tasks, today the print format has changed. This new format doesnt work well at all for my team. Has anyone else noticed this?

IS this a glitch or a bug? (hopefully not a change, we have been printing asana tasks for 7 years now this way)

Hi @Johnson_Benjamin

Welcome back to the forum.
What change have you noticed in the printing format?

Rashad

I’ve also just came across this issue as well.

The formatting of the tasks used to be much more concise but now it shows too much info that’s not necessary to reference!

Its essentially the format of the information that’s printed on a task. As of yesterday its more similar to just hitting control+p and printing a browser window. Before yesterday its was more organized and would only print custom fields that contained info.
I am aware of a minor update happening to the cusom fields, you can now click to “hide custom fields” or to “show more fields”

I have screen shots of what its doing now compared to how it used to print

@Johnson_Benjamin

You are right. I just tried it. If the custom fields are hidden, they wont show in your print, if you press show all custom fields, then they will all appear in your print.

I am not sure when this was the case, as I have not needed to print tasks before.

Is there a user case for printing them?

Rashad

Here a pic of what they look like printed, this update had drastically affected our work flow (maybe a bit dramatic, but also true)

I am having this same issue. I do NOT need all that info at the top to print that big and can not figure out how to change it back. This just started yesterday. I am guessing they had an update.

@Forum-team, Can you let us know if this is a new change, an A/B test, or something else?

Until/if this is addressed, you may want to consider the free Asana2Go (disclaimer: I’m the creator) which offers more printing options:

Thanks,

Larry

Hi folks, I got confirmation that is isn’t a bug but an update that launched a couple of days ago to address some backend issue and align with other print views such as project status updates. I’ve gone ahead and shared your feedback directly to the team working on this feature in hope they can address your concerns. I’ll keep you posted here when I have an update on this topic!

This also negatively affects our workflows. We print the document for daily task assignments which are discussed at our morning meetings. We need to be able to see tasks (e.g., AM schedule), subtasks (e.g., Team 1, Team 2) and a second layer of subtasks (e.g., Team 1 Task A, B,C – Team 2, Task A, B, C).

This is a major disruption to the way we use Asana at our organization and I don’t believe I have received any notice about the change.

Id there a workaround?

I will say, this update is a disruption for my team and currently there is not a work around that’s offering the same benefits as before.

Thanks, Larry. Asana2go offers some help and I truly appreciate it.

It’s still not perfect for us, as it would be really helpful to be able to print both the parent task information as well as multiple layers of subtask information. As far as I can tell, I am only able to print either the parent task and a single layer of subtasks or highlight each subtask in order to print each subtask and their respective second layer subtasks. This is still much better than what Asana’s most recent change allows, but it was already working perfectly before the update.

Is there an Asana2go step I may be missing?

That’s exactly correct! Asana2Go lets you print one or an arbitrary selection of tasks (or subtasks) and will show any and all of their subtasks, but just that first level of subtasks.

Thanks,

Larry

Missing that the previous print format for Tasks/Subtasks. Hopefully that previous format is being worked to be integrated. Is there a timeline?

Thanks Marie for checking and providing feedback. Hopefully this will be looked into by the team.

I am just adding my complaint about this as well. The print format that has been the same for over 7 years was one of the best parts of ASANA and how we used it. I would love for that to be returned to how it was previously done. Or at least an option to print it that way again.

The way I used the print was to help with month end. It included the subtasks of the subtasks. That is so frustrating that they are now just gone.

Hi everyone,

I went ahead and created a product feedback so we can keep track of this.
Can you please go ahead and upvote it:
