We’ve seen this need come up in the Forum from teams trying to route work more smoothly, including:
Sounds great and skipping absent teammates makes sense.
On the other hand I feel it is another missed opportunity to take the defined project roles (Overview tab) into account!
Wouldn´t it be great just to be able to add a project role within the “Set assignee” setting in combination with the round robin rotation? It would be much easier to change available staff for topics instead of updating (several) rules.
E.G. within an IT-Support Project incoming Tickets (via form) can be distributed to available team-members depending on their “Help Desk” or “Administration” roles and a “Ticket-Type” custom field automatically.
It would be great if this could be used for subtasks. I got excited about using this in multiple places but realized all of our use cases would be for subtasks and not tasks.
Also, it doesn’t seem to apply to repeating tasks. We have a task that happens every week and we’d love to rotate the assignee.
I want to apologise to everyone: you can probably find instances on the forum of me saying Asana will never create such a feature (because it is a bit niche, would bloat the app, and wouldn’t satisfy a lot of people in whatever form they pick): I guess I was wrong
I have a team who rotates their work from home days, so they are only able to take tasks on their on-site days; is there a way to create a schedule for their onsite days? For example: I only have two team members to assign tasks to on Mondays - is there a way to set up who to rotate to based on day of the week?
In other words, is there a way to assign tasks based on day of the week rather than a specific due date. i.e. Monday tasks are assigned to Matt; Tuesday tasks are assigned to Ruby; etc.
