New! CSV user import

Hi everyone,

Today, I’m excited to announce we are launching a new CSV import option for users and user profile information!

With the CSV user import, admins and super admins in Advanced, Enterprise, and Enterprise+ organizations can efficiently import new members into Asana and update information about existing members.

CSV user import is particularly useful when trying to invite a batch of new users to Asana or batch updating existing member information.

To upload your CSV file:

  1. Navigate to the Members tab in the admin console
  2. Click Import/Export CSV
  3. Select a CSV file to import
  4. Click Import

Check out our Help Center article for more details about this feature.

@Emily_Roman
This sounds efficient, thank you for sharing
Is there a way to control which teams the users are added to?

Hi @ShunS, great question! Adding the user to a team is not supported with this update. Here you can find what you can import:

Field Details
Email address Email address for the member.
Full name The full name of the user.
License type The user’s license, “enterprise” or “view only” (only available for view only domains).
Job title The user’s title, such as “Vice President.”
Department The user’s department.
Cost center The cost center that the user belongs to. This field can be helpful for billing.
Division Which division (organizational unit) a user belongs to. This division field is different from the concept of a division in Asana.
Country Country associated with the user’s address.
Preferred language The user’s preferred language. Used for selecting the localized user interface.
Employee ID A string identifier, typically numeric or alphanumeric, assigned to a person.

I hope this helps!

Are you going to fix CSV exports? I keep getting an Error:Forbidden window when I click the emailed link to the CSV download.

@Emily_Roman, will we be able to disable or delete users via CSV?

Thank you @Emily_Roman !
I saw that table and I came up with the question.
It sounds like double effort to find the imported people and manually add them to a team/project, so I hope the team ID field is added in the future.
That way, the onboarding experience can connect seamlessly to custom onboarding for each team

Yes, I agree with @ShunS , that would be helpful and even better if it logically supported comma separated values for adding users to multiple teams.
