Moving Subtasks by triggering per custom field + Filtering

Hi there,

we’re just setting up asana as our project management software and so far it is great. Only recently we stumbled upon some problems:

  1. Custom Filter
In the List view, we want to filter by a custom field and it is working. The only problem is that you can’t see subtasks anymore, although they also have the same custom field setting checked.

  2. We have a task with several subtasks and several custom fields. One custom field should trigger to add a subtask to another project. Apparently it only works for tasks and not subtasks.

Is there anything planned to address these issues or is there some kind of workaround?

thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Thomas

Hi,

A search with custom filters would allow you to do this.

Indeed rules don’t apply to subtask. If you want a rule on subtasks, those subtasks have to be multi-homed in a project with those rules… What some people do is multi-home subtasks into the project itself (in a section called “Subtasks” at the bottom).

Do you see what I mean?

Hi, thanks for the help.

I guess, but then everything is listed in this search view and I lose the overview with my sections. It would be nice, if you filter your tasks, subtasks are not automatically excluded.
It’s a workaround, which unfortunately does not help in my specific situation, but I didn’t know that you can search with custom filters. That’s new to me, so thanks for this

Ahhh, that’s nice. It worked. Wow. Thanks for this one

Or use our Flowsana integration, whose rules can trigger on subtask changes (no multi-homing needed).
