🔐 Microsoft SSO is rolling out to Asana

Hello @Kim_S ! This is available for all users of all pricing tiers and free plans. This is for anyone to sign up or login to Asana

Hi @Dan_Hardy! We are slowly releasing this now. Some accounts may see this functionality in their admin console today and tomorrow. By Monday, everyone will be able to require Microsoft SSO to be the only login option. I’ll make a comment on this tomorrow as well update the main post!

Thanks

Hello folks,

Please note that everyone should now have access to the Microsoft SSO admin controls. This means that you are now able to require that your domain log in exclusively with Microsoft SSO. This will prevent any users from trying to log in through Google SSO or password.

Please note this is only available on paid plans.

Please feel free to post here if you have any questions!

We opened a case with Asana support because we do not see the SSO option in our Asana Advanced Plan. Their response was :

Please note that SSO is currently available only on Enterprise, Enterprise+, and Legacy Enterprise plans. Since your organization is on the Advanced plan, the Microsoft SSO option won’t be available in your Admin Console.

If Microsoft SSO is required for your organization, you would need to upgrade to one of the eligible Enterprise tiers.

This appears to contradict your statement that requiring Microsoft SSO is availalble on all paid plans. Has something changed?

Thank you.

Hi @marknova ! Nothing has changed around Microsoft SSO pricing. Microsoft SSO is available on all plans, but requiring Microsoft SSO is available only on paid plans. This means that your advanced plan should support this functionality.

Something that’s often confused with our native Microsoft SSO option is the Microsoft that can be set up through SAML. This is because Microsoft Entra is an iDP that Asana supports. SAML is available only on Enterprise plans and above.

In terms of finding the option to require Microsoft SSO, are you looking as indicated in the screenshot in this help article? If so, do you see Google available?: Asana Help Center

Hi @Elaine_Winde , thank you for the reply. When we go to Admin Console > Security > Authentication, there is no option listed for Single Sign-On (SSO). See the attached screen shot.

Would these issues affect the availability of SSO?

  • We are still in the trial period after upgrading to the Advanced plan.
  • Some staff previously signed up for free Asana accounts with our email domain, so our newly purchased Asana instance is a division of the larger domain.

Thank you.

Hello @marknova , thank you for the context. Yes, you being on a division plan (having other staff on free ASana accounts in the email domain) would impact your ability to set up SSO since the control would impact all users in your Asana, not just those in your division. Support should be able to help you here.
