I’ve noticed this a few times, but when I get @mentioned in someone else’s task, I don’t always get a notification in my Asana inbox. I’ve also noticed that when this happens it doesn’t trigger a Slack integrated notification either.
These come up in my gmail inbox, but if I miss or delete them then I have no way of finding the task to respond inside Asana. Why does this happen?
Welcome to the forum! My first thought: Asana tries to batch notifications on tasks/projects to avoid overwhelming people. Sometimes, this means that if someone mentions you on a task and does something else on that same task (e.g., completes it, reassigns it, etc.), you’ll only receive a notification about the most recent action. Could this be what’s happening?
I think you should file a bug. If you have a task URL or any other details, supply that and Support can look into it, I believe.
Try these troubleshooting steps, then please create a support ticket, go to www.asana.com/support (make sure you are logged in to Asana) > click the chat icon at the bottom right > type “speak to an agent” > click “Yes” > click “Something Else” > click “Create a support ticket.”
Hello, I am having and issue where the rule for the people variable are not messaging the task creator in their Asana inbox (in this case, me as I’m testing the rules). I logged out and logged back into my desktop app, no luck. Should I file a ticket or am I doing something incorrectly?
Thank you!
Stephanie
#2 Screenshot of the my inbox after the rule is tested. I can see a message in Inbox that seems to be for my colleague who is notified by rule that a task is ready, but I don’t receive message directed to me that “the image you requested is ready”.
Hope this makes sense. TL;DR I’m not receiving inbox notifications via the people variable of “task creator” (me, in this test task) but I can see notices to a colleague probably because I am a collaborator.
Thanks again,
S-
I know this is an older post, but I was having the same problem and think I figured out what the issue was. At the top of my Inbox, to the right of where it says “Manage notifications,” there are three dots (More actions). I clicked that, and then clicked “Expand notifications, Show more context.” The tasks on the left side of my inbox expanded to show additional notifications, including places where I had been mentioned. I hope this helps someone else, it’s been bugging me for awhile!
Good point! Expanding the notifications in the Inbox is one thing that I always recommend during my basic training sessions. I wish Asana had it on by default - one could easily miss out on important notifications and useful context!
