@Mention people before tasks

When I try to mention a person, for example while writing a comment in a task, the mention autocompletes to a task with the person’s name in it instead of the person. This is very annoying, because it is very rare to mention a task, but very common to mention a person.

When you are typing @ in a comment and you want to add someone or something to the comment, show people at the start of the list then order by whatever you order by. It can be frustrating when you want to @ someone and instead you get a list of tasks which have their name in them. I would guess more people use the functionality to @ people than tasks.

Please Asana, in the user tag suggestion tool (when we digit “@”) give a priority to the team members. It’s dangerous for privacy, when we manage a lot of teams.

I manage dozens of teams and the “user suggestion” it’s a nightmare, every time I try to mention a user I risk to compromise the project privacy!

I’m afraid I don’t have any update yet; I really do understand how critical this is for you, however I can’t promise when this will be implemented. I’m keeping a close eye on this case and will make sure to loop you in as soon as I have an update!

I’ve hundreds of users in my ASANA organization.
When I need to add someone in a task (collaborator or citation) I press @ and I start to digit the initial of the person.

Too many times I risk to add someone that:

  • isn’t in the project / team
  • can’t see that task

Try to imagine a TEAM for every customer of mine. And for every team 5-10 different users…

Hi Asana, too much time has passed for this task.
We managed with Asana dozens of customers and agencies of the customers.
And everytime we assign a task or add a @profile-tag, we risk to give access to a wrong person or to permit to OT person to receive an email notification with confidential informations.

Please take care to this task!

Hi Asana, did you plan something?
It’s mandatory you apply a solution on this privacy bug.
On the “user suggestion” you need to prioritize:

  • task users
  • project users
  • team users

And you need to highlight users can’t access to the task, to the project or to the team!

Is there a solution in place for this yet? I have clients who are having the same issue. And furthermore, what is the logic for how tasks show up in the @mention. What we’re seeing is that completed tasks from years ago are showing up before tasks that were recently created and assigned to the person doing the @mention. I’ve been searching for a thread on this and don’t see one clearly addressing this yet.

In 7 years ASANA has not had a solution.
Every day when someone mentions an account, it risks tagging an unwanted person, with a privacy hole incredible.
