I really need this feature! We’ve been having problems with an assignee changing due dates at will, so tasks are late and no one notices because the assignee has changed the due date. Also, we have tasks set up to automatically repeat in the following year, but when the assignee changes the date, next year’s task ends up having the wrong timeline.

I would like to see this as well. Its pointless if someone else can change a due date and not even see and audit history of it.

Yes! I’d also love to be able to do things like: lock due dates on Milestone tasks as a project setting.

I think after four years of a very simple request like this that someone would’ve gotten someone’s attention. Perhaps we need a campaign to get attention. Everyone should re-post a reply to this request weekly re-favorite all the previous posts. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

@Joe_Mallon and others - fully agree that this is a much-needed enhancement; make sure you use the vote button near the title to lend your support.

In the meantime, it’s not a total solution but Asana has recently released some enhancements to custom fields including private custom fields and locking the ability to edit custom fields on individual projects (can’t find a help link for that) that might help (you’d need to create a separate date field. It’s not ideal (e.g., I think it’s only for enterprise accounts) but it hopefully suggests that they’re directionally aligned on this.

Has this been formally raised with Asana? My team has been calling for this for a while - it’s really the only issue with have with Asana. You need to be able to lock milestones, then be alerted when a shift in schedule impacts that milestone. It’s a critical part of good project management

Lock Due Date of Milestones

“If you move the task at a later date, the milestones you depend on will move automatically.” (When “Avoid dependency conflict” is turned on in the project settings) By default, “Milestone” should be set so that it does not move automatically. This is another proposal for a solution.

Please consider it.

Lock due date at assignee level.

I want assignees to be able to toggle fixed due dates for each task. Milestones are similar, but they are a little simpler. Example of usage: In My Tasks, my friend’s birthday is a milestone. I want to fix the due date of the task to reserve a restaurant for the birthday party two weeks in advance so that it doesn’t get changed accidentally. This is not a solution.
