List view show imported tasks columns

I have two projects that share tasks. The primary project has tasks that have a “priority,” but if I import that task into the other project I cannot view that field as a column because it was generated in another project.

Is there something I am missing? or do I just have to have two fields for priority, one for each project?

Hi,
You would need to create a new priority field for each project because the imported task’s original priority does not transfer over.
You can hide the default one and use your custom priority field.

Welcome, @Ray_Balhorn,

A key point is to edit the custom field’s definition in the first project (Customize button > Fields) and make sure the checkbox is checked to add the field to your org’s field library, as below:

Then in the other project, go to Customize button > Fields and add that same field to that project:

When you do this, a task multi-homed in both projects will both use that field and have one value for that field the task in both places.

To show it in List view, use the Options button and toggle on the field’s column.

Thanks,

Larry
