Issues in Advanced search and having sub tasks populate

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing: Getting the “Hmmm nothing matches your search” result when searching using a custom status field “no value” and subtasks only selected. I can get results if I select ‘Any’ for subtasks, but the results only provide parent tasks

Steps to reproduce: Conduct an advanced search, add custom field > status > no value AND subtasks > Any OR Subtasks Only

it won’t let me include two images, but I can provide multiple examples of a sub task w/ no value in status field that should have populated.

Are the Subtasks manually added to the project?

Let’s say that you have a task. This task has two Subtasks. In list view you expand the task and the two Subtasks show below, with the same custom fields like the task.

Not really :slight_smile: this is misleading. The Subtasks are not part of the project and therefore have no custom fields assigned to them. So they do not show in search. You need to manually add the task to the project.

@IvanStaykov when you search by “Subtasks only” in the advanced search, the subtasks don’t necessarily need to be added to the project. But you are right when you mention subtasks don’t inherit the parent task :slight_smile: this would be applicable if you search by tasks with a field and you want to populate also the subtasks, in this case, you’d need to add them to the project first.

@anon60924797 as per the parameters in your search, the result should show incomplete subtasks assigned to a specific member. In order to investigate this further, please contact our support team and send them this information:

  • URL of a subtask that meets this parameters but don’t appear in your search. Please note that only public subtasks and private subtasks where you are a collaborator will appear in the search.
  • URL of this thread so you don’t need to re-write everything
