📝 Improved Notes Early Access Program: Share Your Notes, Privately and Publicly!

Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce the upcoming release of a powerful new enhancement that will transform the way you manage unstructured information and collaborate within Asana: Shareable Notes.

:memo: What is new for Notes?

Notes is a feature that already exists today within Asana, but only as a tab within Projects, Portfolios, and Teams. With this change, Notes will function as a first-class Work Graph Object (WGO), offering robust capabilities for both private and collaborative work:

  • Private Notes: Keep personal thoughts, drafts, and to-do lists entirely confidential.
  • Shareable WGO: Notes can be shared, edited, and accessed by collaborators just like Tasks or Projects.
  • Attach to Other WGOs: Link Notes to other core Asana objects, providing rich context to your workflow:
    • Projects
    • Portfolios
    • Teams
    • Tasks
  • Works with Asana AI: Use Notes with AI Chat, AI Teammates and Smart Statuses

:rocket: Join the Early Access Program and share feedback!

Before the full release, we are welcoming customers to try our Improved Notes for a limited Early Access program. We are looking for active customers to test the functionality, stress-test the sharing and AI capabilities, and provide feedback to ensure we’re building a product that best meets your needs. Bonus points if you’re already using Notes in your regular workflows or if you want to leverage Asana for text-related workflows. We want to invest more in Notes, and your participation will directly influence the Notes roadmap of features and enhancements we deliver to you!

Nikko – this sounds absolutely amazing! Filled out the form just now.

For me and for everyone else who may need some clarity, I’m assuming WGO is Work Graph Objects?

Thanks for asking for the clarification! Yes, WGOs are Work Graph objects. Examples of those are Tasks, Projects, Portfolios, Goals, Users, Teams… and now Notes!

I heard about this a little while ago and I’m really excited about it. I just filled out the form, and I’d love to be included in the Q&A session as well.

Thanks for clarifying. I think the broad community, people outside of forum leaders and partners are unlikely to know the acronym or to even understand the term “Work Graph Object” so it was helpful for you to clarify.

Great exciting news!

Hi @Nikko_Mendoza , sorry I’m jumping in with feedback before I’ve even gotten access :joy:, but I wanted to share something that would be really helpful for our team.

One feature we’d love to see for Notes is the ability to search within a note in the desktop app (like a true Ctrl+F / Cmd+F “find in note”). In the browser version, we can use the standard page find behavior, but in the desktop app we don’t have an equivalent “find” experience inside a note today.

As Notes become more powerful and we start storing more content in them, being able to quickly locate keywords, names, or sections will become pretty essential, especially for longer notes and shared documentation. Our org uses the desktop app heavily, so this would make a big difference for day-to-day usability.

This is fantastic news! I’m a big user of Notes right now and have been anxiously waiting for this type of development. Filling out the form for early access now!

Hahaha, I thought it was “What’s Going On”

Hey @Nikko_Mendoza,

Notes will function as a first-class Work Graph Object (WGO)

Very cool!

Is there a plan to have API support for Notes, especially now that it’ll be part of the work Graph? I would love to be able to add support for it in my Flowsana integration, and I’m sure I won’t be alone in developers wanting to take advantage of this new object.

We’re working on getting API support up in the next few sprints!
