Hi!
I want to create a rule to automatically change the section of a task when a due date is reached. I use this rule to change tasks in my content calendar. When the task gets to the due date, if it’s approved or marked as complete, i want to trigger a rule to change the section, from “approved” to “published”, in my process.
The problem is the trigger - Asana doesn’t have a trigger for this situations - when the due date is past beyond, and the task is marked as complete…
If I’m understanding correctly, the issue is that the date is approaching rule only will fire on incomplete tasks, so the workaround is to not actually mark these tasks complete. You could consider adding to your existing sections of “Approved” and “Published” another called “Completed” and use that instead of marking the task complete–move the task there manually or by some rule. Then the date is approaching rule will fire on those (because they’re not already completed). In the rule action, in addition to moving it to “Published,” mark the task complete at that point.
